Texas’ Largest County Asks DOJ For Help As SB1 Causes Thousands Of Ballots To Be Rejected | Talking Points Memo

We know what the corrupted Supreme Court will do with this.

They will come down on the side of the TexASS GOP and let the suppression run unchecked.

Yes! Make them feel it until they understand how a functioning democracy actually works. This should hurt them bad!

A 5-4 …

It’ll be 6-3. Roberts life long obsession has been to restrict the right to vote to rich white Christians which was the original intent of the Founding Fathers.

Nope sorry. With the media it will always be Bothsider House Rules.

Yep it is a gotcha - they had to tear me a window in the envelope my ballot was in so I could get to the lines where they wanted the numbers again.

But I still maintain that blue counties or no - they aren’t solid blue and the GOP is making this this hard for their voters too.

ETA - not that y’all give a shit apparently since most of the thread seems to be Secede already, which y’all know isn’t possible.

Good luck getting help. The Merrick Garland DOJ moves at what can charitably be described as a very leisurely pace when it comes to doing anything against big offenders. It’s to busy handing out the equivalent of parking tickets to the Jan 6th insurrectionists.

I feel bad for these state of Texas captives. A cry for help as Democracy dies. Garland is no Superman, nor is he trying to be, and the Supreme Court is insurmountable anyway.

Those are some pretty stunning numbers on rejections, don’t think that the results in the general election will at all fall out the way they intend them to. Could end up turning the State Blue for us all by themselves.

So? Make. Them. Do. It.

Make them show their entire ass to the world. And then pass sensible reforms like expanding the court to 15 members.

Remember, cynical defeatism is functionally equivalent to acquiescence. The dictator won’t care why you did nothing to stop him.

They never pay any attention to the Law of Unintended Consequences. I think they just might see that happen, castor - dog knows I hope so.

Fun factoid: I used to work for a guy who was roommate with Irving at Exeter. Said he was a bit of a doofus as a teen.

Nice thought but Boris Manchin and Natasha Sinema stand in the way of expanding the corrupted court because both of them join with Republicans to push voter suppression.

“It’s not voter suppression when Republicans can still vote. If Democrats don’t like it, they can either not cast a ballot or re-register as Republicans. Therefore, we uphold the Texas law.”

This is the first I’ve heard essential information being placed inside the flap of the envelope. That is evil

At the moment it is working equally badly for both flavors of voters.
