Texas Governor Limits Mail-In Ballot Drop-Off To One Location Per County | Talking Points Memo

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday restricted the number of locations where voters can drop off mail-in ballots, adding a potentially cumbersome hurdle to the process just weeks before election day.

This shows how afraid the Texas GOP/Cornyn is. Hordes of Blue barbarians at the gate.

I don’t get it. Does Abbott think pissing off voters is a good idea at this point?

Are these assclowns seeing something in the polls that is scaring the hell out of them?

" The executive order from the governor says that there can only be one location per county where voters can drop off their mail-in ballots.
Abbott’s order also requires that clerks at early voting locations “allow poll watchers to observe any activity conducted at the early voting clerk’s office location related to the in-person delivery of a marked mail ballot.”

It is no coincidence that he announces this right after polls show Texas is closer than the GOP ever expected it to be. And right after trump calls for his little boys to watch over and intimidate at the polls.

At this point, even West Virginia and Alabama are pretending they don’t know Texas.

(”Who?”)

I have a mail-in and I would drive five hours to the other end of the goddamn state of Pennsylvania to drop it off. I hope there’s an injunction against this but until then drop dead, Abbott.

Harris county has almost 5 million people, so one drop of box.
Poll nazis at every polling place.
The mail will be late.
It’s all working perfectly.

It is laying on the ground, in plain sight, with a sign with an arrow that says Bullshit Courtesy of the GOP.

Since we have a Supreme Court that loves to block Progressive voting changes because it’s too close to the election, let’s see if they apply the same standard to this - especially since Counties have already planned and maybe even deployed multiple voting locations. Looking at you, CJ Roberts.

The coup is upon us, my friends.

I’m guessing the drop-off box will be located at the extreme edge of each county, subsequently to be determined as “accidentally” installed over the county line, thus invalidating them.

Must. Steal. Election.

It seems part of GOP involuntary nervous system, an innate reaction.

Part of Democrats’ Get Out The Vote effort needs to be educating voters on their options. This year it’s less important for GOTV efforts to get people to the polls and more important to get people to vote by mail effectively. But this is all about money and organization and the Democrats are up to the challenge.

We dropped ours off yesterday. Had to show our IDs. The law requires you do sign the Ballot envelope in the same manner as the signsture used for mail in application. When we moved here State law required women to use thier maiden name on their drivers license instead of their middle name. So in effect she has 3 signatures that she uses. She couldnt remember which one she used for the mail in Ballot. So I convinced her to go to the early voting clerk to see which signature to she used on the application. They showed her signature, two minutes in and out. No fuss,.no muss.

Fuck Abbott. Fuck all of these vote-suppressing GOP assholes. They’ll win Texas this time, but by 2022 there’ll be a federal law mandating a certain number of ballot drop-boxes per person within counties nationwide (along with lots of other changes that will make suppression harder in the future). I’m encouraged by how little traction claims of “voter fraud” are getting in Republican court challenges to Democratic efforts (in states where Democrats run elections, or sensible election officials run elections) to make voting easier – for the moment assholes like Abbott can claim that to restrict voting (and there’s not time to change that in court, particularly in the 5th Circuit, before the election in five weeks), but in the long run the assholes will get what’s coming to them, good and hard.

My street, my intersection (including my house) Biden Signs. Down the way, a house I thought would be a Trumper, has a Biden Sign. I can only locate four yards in the neighborhood with Trump signs. Otherwise Biden signs are popping up left and right in my area.

I have a regular park route that I follow. It goes through older neighborhoods and the last part is pretty lofty price wise. Biden signs everywhere. I wander through a low income area, Biden signs. In the ritzy neighborhood, one Trump sign. And this is a neighborhood that the four blocks I cross through are homes in the 500K-1.5M range. But those four blocks are looking like the entrance to a Biden rally.

That is San Antonio right now in my view. I have a couple of areas to look at to see if they are swinging blue, but I am amazed in just what I am seeing.

[Edit] In fact, I know one specific neighborhood to see if the GOP thrill is gone. When the world was popping up Beto, Cruz signs festooned this one area. I will be taking a drive later and will add it on as a destination. This is going to be interesting.

RepubliKKKlans will do ANYTHING to stop people from voting.

It’s time to blow the dust off of Section 2 of the 14th Amendment and punish Republican states by stripping them of Representatives and electoral votes based on the proportion of people they block from voting.
