Texas GOPers Spin Dem Walkout As Abdication Of Duty, Vow To Pass Voting Restrictions

They’re republican; they don’t have to do what they were elected to do.

Everything’s bigger (and apparently stupider) in Texas!

The R’s need 21 to make a quorum.

That chamber is a borderline hung chamber (18 R’s-13 D’s).

Democratic abdication of duty.

Hmm… mulling….looking at cards…

Okay I raise.

One remediation of the Texas grid issues under a Republican controlled Texas administration.

Call!

Private jet? That photo on Patrick’s twitter feed looked a lot more like a Trailways bus.

The changes to the Voter Registration laws and Poll Watcher information is not good for any voter. The GOP have lost their advantage when people use the Vote by Mail option, just like they lost their advantage to using Straight Ticket Voting.

It is almost laughable if it did not actually affect people’s right to vote by mail. People who want to Vote By Mail because they are Disabled must sign a statement saying that voting in person would put their life at risk.

This problem won’t go away until the Democrats start working the suburbs in every red state for all they are worth. Turn the Republican party into a totally rural party. It can be done but it is going to require real effort.

Actually, scholarship shows that there were many who ran away at the Alamo once things turned bad, while others, including Davy Crockett, surrendered. They all were killed, which was a mistake by Santa Ana…he should have kept them as prisoners instead of creating martyrs.

The myth of the Alamo is actually now one of the issues being tossed about by conservatives, they cancelled a recent talk about the real history…once again, proving they only care about the white version of history instead of the correct one.

This is a Texas filibuster in reverse. I hope they stay out until the next election. The status quo is better than any bill the GOP will put on the floor in this session ot any other one.

Right, hence the puzzle. They’re going to DC. And if the session is over when they return there will no longer be cause to compel them to appear.

While you are correct, the R’s in Texas prefer that when confronted with myth versus truth, go with the myth.

“You stay and you fight- you don’t run away.” Once upon a time there was a real fighter who explained what real fighters do: “Float like a butterfly; sting like a bee.” Translation: don’t stay; that’s how you get beaten up. Counter when an opportunity presents itself.

When you take care of the criminals that are still working in your administration Abbott…MAYBE we’ll chat. When you FIX the power grid instead of wasting money on a mythical wall…maybe. When you stop being a racist, bigoted, lying ahole then … maybe.

Fuck you Cornyn, you lantern-jawed son of a bitch.

When this happened in '03 (another Dem walkout to prevent similarly egregious GOP bullshit), they went to OKC. The then-TX governor–who I believe was that dipshit Rick Perry? (too lazy to check)–threatened to “send the Texas Rangers after 'em,” to which the OK State Police said “fuck off back to Texas, you all-hat-and-no-cattle-narrow-hipped-cosplaying-bitches.”

e.g., Fire and Maneuver.

We may need a go fund me campaign for the Texas Dems so they can stay in D.C. as long as they need to.

Love to be a billionaire and just rent out the whole Hay-Adams for them. To be an angel for them, and a complete dick to Gov. Abbott.

Soros has @castor_troy working on just that mission at the moment.

Same thing happened in WI 10 years ago, the R’s eventually won and broke public unions. I appreciate the fight but like act 10 we will lose in a rigged system.

Sadly, these hyenas will likely get this junk passed into law but the intention of what they are doing could not be more transparent. We have to hope repetition has a cumulative affect on those who have not been taking these developments seriously enough…what you think is happening is happening…
