Texas GOPers Punt On Gun Control After El Paso; Point To Mental Health, School Prayer

Texas Republicans have been steadfastly avoiding the topic of gun control in the wake of the El Paso shooting on Saturday that left 20 people dead, instead placing the blame on mental health, video games, and even lack of school prayer.

Why do crazy people have such easy access to semi-automatic rifles? Should we give em a tank, too?

Texas GOPers Punt On Gun Control After El Paso; Point To Mental Health, School Prayer

The least surprising headline of the day.

They’re not crazy. That is Republican framing.

They’re White Supremacists—like Trump—and no one should be blaming these mass murders on mental illness.

…he also blamed the “video game industry” and how “we won’t let our kids even pray in our schools.”

We are back to this crap, and he’s white so he is mentally ill.

They are all fucked in the head and will never change.

Video games? What did they pull that out of some old late 90’s talking points?

As a rule I try to use polite language when commenting online, but damn these motherfuckers to hell.

I would like to know what planet/time warp these people are living in that they call out video games, no prayer in schools and mental health as things to look at.

If memory serves me correctly, it used to be violence on TV and in the movies that used to be blamed. I guess this was so 20th century.

The problem is not enough school
Prayer?!?! Is that supposed to be a sick, twisted joke?

I guess next they’ll go whole hog and say these constant shooting are caused by not enough tax cuts for the rich and over-regulation of fossil fuels.

As I said on and earlier post " Their (GOP) go to.

" Abbott later said that the state needed to better address mental health issues as a solution to mass shootings,"

" “This was a sick person, the person in Dayton was a sick person,” Mulvaney told ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl, during an interview Sunday. “No politician is to blame for that. The person who was responsible here are the people who pulled the trigger. We need to figure out how to kind of create less of those kinds of people as a society and not trying to figure out who gets blamed going into the next election.”

And Kevin McCarthy " Video Games"

" Hitting Fox News airwaves on Sunday morning to discuss the latest mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, two prominent Republican politicians both insisted that the blame for the tragic events needed to be placed at the feet of violent video games."

What does mental health have to do with El Paso. The mass shooting was obviously a political act and the shooter knew exactly what he was doing and why.

The Southern slave state Confederates = the Republican Party.

The Republicans are Confederates and they will never ever support gun restrictions for as long as the Union and the US Constitution are still standing.

The Republicans will support gun control once they take over the country and remove the Union and the US Constitution. The Confederacy never supported the Constitution and they want to secede from the Union. They won’t surrender their Ak-47’s and hatred until they have their own country.

GOP cowards are ineffective and that includes the Texas political leadership as well as the ineffective loser in the White House. Completely ineffective for decades in dealing with our plague of gun violence that ends lives and changes lives daily in this country. Drop the sanitized views of this gun carnage and show the real photos, images and stories. Guns are a tool is a false argument…completely ignoring the lethality of this “tool”. Ineffective…
