There is a very good point made in Ken Burns/Lynn Novick’s Prohibition documentary, in addition to some other interesting parallels to the gun issue.

The “Drys” were extremely strident after the 18th amendment was passed and refused to go along with any changes to the laws, in spite of pretty overwhelming popular support to do so. Their failure to bend in the slightest was one of the major factors in making the 21st amendment possible.

Also worth mentioning it (21st) passed like grease through a goose. We get enough people to say “enough”, and we can change this.

I think so too. I saw what Mothers Against Drunk Drivers did to the drinking laws in Texas which were very permissive until enough people were killed by drunk drivers and MADD started going to all the trials.

Angry American mothers can really help here and they are angry and they have organized.

And the GOP is bucking the will of the vast majority of Americans with this.

I do think we need a constitutional amendment to deal with this definitively. In the .meantime, if the dems take control of the fed govt a major crminal investigztion of NRA finances needs to be conducted. I really consider it to be a RICO organization and want to see it put out of business once and for all.
