What the mayor really wanted to say was that the Livestock Show and Rodeo was probably a lot harder for him to cancel than the upcoming shitshow the GOP was all set to put on.

People wanted to see those blue ribbon steer and grand prize pigs. Not those damn circus clowns with their orange-wigged elephant buttons.

I’m going to guess the Mayor is a Democrat and that Trump and the GOP will raise great amounts of money off of this.

He’s not wrong, but that is of little consequence. :\

If he increases the dose tenfold, then I’ll feel better too.

The Livestock Show and Rodeo would involve less manure than the GOP convention.

So it looks like they have their center pole, so how much canvas will it take to make a big enough tent?

Kudos to Mayor Turner. This was, without a doubt, the correct decision. Houston is in a horrible state right now, and the fact that he had to do it for the Republicans, who inexplicably refused to cancel on their own, is a disgrace. You know they know better because their top two guys aren’t planning on giving in-person speeches.

Mayor Turner is very much a Democrat. He followed another Democrat, Mayor Annise Parker, an out lesbian who got married while in office.

Houston, a majority minority city, routinely elects Dem mayors.

Well, livestock. There ya go.

“We closed down the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and this convention is no greater or better.”
