Texas Drops Murder Charge Against Woman For Alleged ‘Self-Induced Abortion’

Likely not, though I would posit that the person WOULD be welcomed into the T***p administration – over the objections of the NatSec community and probable failure to pass their security clearance vetting – if they would pledge fealty to the Orange Menace.

This would have gone to a trail had they persisted. The effort was about making an example of this woman’s defiance of Abbott’s abortion ban and relying on her own resources to cast his control away. She had to go down. Like the woman that got 5 years for casting a provisional ballot. An example of “don’t fuck with me”. However…this shit would have gone to a Court. And a prosecutor would’ve had a bitch of time with it.

The woman went to a hospital in January. She told them she had attempted to give herself an abortion and miscarried when in that hospital…in January. Some wingnut in that hospital broke the law and ratted her out. She was arrested 2 months later. The prosecutor dropped the charges saying there was nothing to prosecute under Texas law. So we’re to believe that a prosecutor was not able to come to that conclusion over the two months period prior to the woman’s arrest but did so after just three days after putting the woman in jail?

The point was NEVER to prosecute her. It was to make an example of her and then run away. This is where we’ve come in America.

Nope. This is a head fake to make everybody think “they’re not REALLY going to summarily execute every woman who has a heavy period.”

Yes, they are, as soon as everybody’s attention is elsewhere.

The prosecutor still defended her arrest, however, saying that the county sheriff’s office “did their duty …"

You’d need her to say…under oath in a Court…"I did it’. Otherwise there’s no case. It doesn’t matter what she said in a hospital and I imagine hearsay testimony that violates patient rights might never get in that Court. The point was never to prosecute her anyway.

You sure? Sounds to me a lot more like Putin, that surely there won’t be any backlash if we just help ourselves to Ukraine and people will greet us with flowers.

Only to invade and find out rather quickly that public sentiment may not be so much on your side.

I read somewhere, probably here, that he said he’d give up his Turkish citizenship if he’s elected. On the other hand, he served in the Turkish army and has some personal ties to Erdogan so it’s still a concern. Although, less important in the long run than the fact that he’s a medical con man and a swindler. We don’t need another quack in the Senate, we already have Rand Paul.

I don’t think we should lose sight of what’s been achieved in Texas: a woman of color has been punished for aborting a fetus. She spent the weekend in jail even if she didn’t break the law. But she was traumatized and abused and that’s the important thing, isn’t it? :face_vomiting:

Positive. The DA had months to ruminate over that case and her charges. The arrest was to make a political point. It took the DA just 3 days to cut the woman loose after things got real.

Republican State Rep. Charlie Hoffman told The Daily Beast Friday that he had been “on the fence” about whether to impeach Ravnsborg for killing Joe Boever two years ago, but was now determined to do so. A presentation from South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers last Wednesday that offered new details on just how reckless a driver Ravnsborg has been changed his mind, Hoffman said.

Includes (gruesome) details I hadn’t run across before.

Nah,

They just got ahead of the calendar. They are supposed to wait until June after the SC kills Roe

Right. Just like Putin had months to think, but never got that feedback that his invasion wasn’t actually welcome until he pursued it.

We’re taking about a trumped up murder case in Texas not a major war in Europe. The two are so distant in severity and scope that I think your “whataboutism” a bit silly. You can keep bouncing on my posts Castor but I’ll never agree with you. This chump shit in Texas is not the earth shaking geopolitical error that Putin’s bullshit is.
