Abbott claimed the appeal aimed to “protect the rights and freedoms of all Texans” and that the solution is “personal responsibility — not government mandates.”
Sounds like “thoughts and prayers” to me. Courtesy and common decency prohibits me describing the contents of my thoughts and prayers about gov doubledown.
Not enough. The ones whose kids don’t get sick, “see, he was right”. The ones whose kids end up hospitalised, too busy managing the medical care and working a second job to pay the medical bills to find time to vote under texas’ new restrictions.
Yes. And this is why DeSantis lost his suit against Norwegian Cruise Lines: he couldn’t show that Florida had a compelling interest in forcing NCL not to require vaccines and masks that trumped NCL’s interest in doing what it can to make sure as few crew members and passengers as possible got sick and died.
Abbott is doing this because he’s fighting for his political life. He already has primary challengers in next year’s election; conservatives were already angry with how he had (mis) handled COVID last year. He’s going to lose these suits, because he’s basically in the same legal snare that DeSantis was/is in. Political hubris is a pretty tenuous legal argument.

I would think that if these crazies thought the anti-vax/anti mask was going to help their side there would be a reason for this.
But, they’re killing their own. Stupid to the core.
Go figure all this personal freedumb shit.
That’s exactly what SD governor Christi Noem is doing this morning with her praise of the maskless hordes of Sturgis while denigrating the pro-choice segment of the population as hypocrites for taking away the motorcyclists freedom to infect and become infected with a deadly pandemic virus. It’a a really shitty attempt on her part but that’s all she has and by god she’s using it as she continues her quest to be the dotard’s purty running mate in 2024.
I know. It’s pretty mind boggling how utterly illogical, inconsistent, and capricious the Republicans are and yet, here we are. A bunch of greedy selfish little soulless wonders running half or more of the states and trying with all the power they possess to kill as many people as possible for the right to ride that h bomb right down them commie rooskies throats.
When did half of the country just go completely bull goose loony? Have there ever been this many people completely out of their fucking minds all AT THE SAME TIME?

Depending on “personal responsibility” that doesn’t exist isn’t such a great idea.
Interesting that this is on Fox. Good on Collins and, yes, Wallace, who at least sometimes seems to live in reality. Maybe a few people out in Foxlandia will listen.
