U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams begged those who were watching him on “Fox and Friends” on Monday morning to wear masks as President Donald Trump, who enjoys a friendly audience at Fox News, constantly dismisses the importance of mask-wearing.
Individual liberty and the common good are both necessary in a healthy society. Neither is sufficient, and either to the exclusion of the other may lead to tyranny. This administration is obsessed with individual freedom and seemingly hostile to the common good
Wow, someone in the administration with the balls to say something the “president” won’t. Thank you, SG.
And don’t be surprised if he has MP’s waiting to escort you out of the building. #ETTD
This is a world-wide pandemic. It is caused by a virus, using human beings as a habitat, a growth nutrient, and a vehicle of transmission. Over countless generations of its existence, less efficient versions of this virus have fallen by the wayside, and what exists now is supremely capable in all of its functions.
The current line of the virus has overcome all obstacles in its way and exploits every opportunity it sees. The curious notion of freedom that exists among some current phenotypes of our own species is nothing more than a weakness that the virus exploits to propagate itself. Resistance is futile.
Given that this is a world-wide phenomenon, I say that all of humanity participate in a referendum on a single question: what is more important, wearing masks as a defense against the virus, or indulging those phenotypes overly invested in their parochial idea of freedom. I say that the vote will surely be overwhelming in favor of rigorous use of masks. That being the case, the freedom-phenotypic minority should either shut up and wear masks or be rounded up, quarantined, and isolated from the rest of humanity until a vaccine has been successfully developed and administered to the entire population of the Earth. After the danger has passed, they will be free to return to the wild.
We are not against freedom, you see, but truly appreciating our freedom, we must do what we can to ensure its survival as a viable idea over the long term.
Covidiot Trump does NOT want to be upstaged by those medical people that did not go to Trump U for their degrees AND he really bigly misses his mind numbing trashy rallies…so
President Trump says he is bringing back the coronavirus briefings, first one Tuesday ay 5pm
WH Spokesperson: “Our colored help sometimes forget their place. We are working to correct that problem. In the meantime, we are sworn to listen for and observe the desires of Dear Leader/Current Occupant only.”
Listened to a U-M doctor this morning explaining that Covid-19 is a cluster virus - it spreads more effectively in groups of people not wearing masks, especially if they’re indoors at bars and restaurants. He said that’s exactly why we’re seeing the spikes in many states that opened too early and didn’t require people to wear a mask.
I guess those governors of red states finally got that fact beaten into their heads, which is why they’re now requiring mask compliance and closing the bars and other venues, like, ahem, churches.
(Edit- the doctor did not mention churches, but they’re just as guilty for the spread.)
Huge spreading probabilities in churches. And religious schools are exempt from the rules for public schools here which are not opening classrooms until November.
This doctor actually said schools should reopen. If children wear masks and keep hands washed, they’ll be fine. But he noted that it’s staff, of course, that will be susceptible, so schools have to make sure that procedures are in place to protect them as well. If those schools get good advice from the medical community, I guess, hope, it’s possible to do this safely.
