I’ve met Dreamers. They’re American in everything but their permanent legal status. It would be the height of cruel stupidity to throw them out, which is why it’s a signature Trump thing, but now they’re staying home. And again Roberts, while no prize, puts a middle finger in Trump’s face.

Roberts decided DACA’s good for business (which it is) and not a fight he particularly wants the court to get into just now.
Based on these two decisions, I’m gonna go out on a limb and predict the survival of the ACA (assuming the court doesn’t get another Trump appointee, heaven help us).

Think about it. Republicans are genuinely upset and saddened when they’re forced to treat the LGBT community and immigrants fairly, equally, and with compassion. Having to do so truly mystifies them.

“Rejects Trump Effort” is all that happened. SCOTUS is trying to have it both ways - allowing DACA to continue while encouraging efforts to end it. DACA s are still without real protection. Looks like election year shenanigans to me.

The decision says they failed to provide the necessary “reasoned judgment” for the action. If SCOYUS is going to ask for reasoned judgment that is bad news for Trump. I wonder if “Bolton is a stupid head” qualifies as reasoned.

Back in 2015, when I had some work, I did some feature stories on 2 of these DACA kids. One 15-yr old girl – lived with her grandpa, was getting her AA and high school diploma at the same time and getting straight A’s.

I did a feature story a few years before that about an educational program for immigrants, and the head of it said the Mexican parents, including the dads, were very engaged in helping the kids succeed.
