Stone Defense Admits They Failed To Google Potential Jurors Ahead of Trial | Talking Points Memo

At a dramatic hearing Tuesday on Roger Stone’s claims that juror misconduct warranted granting him a new trial, Stone’s lawyers admitted that they did not Google the names on a list of potential jurors that was provided to them during the juror process.

‘Stone’s team failure to do so was the result of a “cost saving” or “strategic” decision they made’.

Translation: legal malpractice and dumbfuckery.

Like Drumpf, Roger Stone apparently only hires ‘the BEST’.

They could have at least asked their followers on Twitter how to do it to get around paywalls, I mean Cuccinelli figured that part out.

That sounds legit. We all know how expensive Google searches are. And slow.

If it was a strategic decision, the strategy must be to establish “ineffective assistance of counsel” as a ground for appeal.

Oh, great. So next Stone is going to say he had bad representation, so he wants a new trial with a new set of lawyers. He probably already has them waiting in the wings.

In this day and age and in a high profile case like this the lawyers have essentially admitted to malpractice. I am sure that is exactly what their insurance carrier wants to hear.

Last time I checked, one juror doesn’t make a jury.

The only thing Stone has left is a malpractice claim against his lawyers.

What a bunch of idiots.

Sounds just like something the Trump Corporation would do.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson is doing this by the book

Judge discloses whole jury was invited to be here today. Foreperson is here. There are 11 people in the jury room.

Judge has ruled that defense did not meet the standard to get a hearing to show jury was tainted by press reports during trial, but she will allow limited hearing anyway. She has said she'll also allow a hearing on whether foreperson was candid.

Did he? Last I read was that Cooch’s excuse for not knowing how serious the Covid had spread was that the information he was looking for was behind a paywall. It wasn’t but I haven’t seen anywhere that he figured this out for himself.

Juror A just took stand. Says no discussion on jury of media reports or evidence from outside the record. Says foreperson was elected by secret ballot from among 4 candidates

Stone’s Lawyers were too busy appearing on FOX News and Hannity to bother doing their fucking jobs.

Yet, somehow, that is the Judges fault?!?!?

BTW Tierney Sneed is also live tweeting the hearing.

Shut this shit show down, Judge Jackson and toss his ass in prison. Ask yourself this. Would you put up with this horseshit from some two bit miscreant that wasn’t a friend of Trump and was found guilty of a federal crime? Close the case with prejudice.

In Trump world, only judges and jurors biased in favor of his side are legitimate.
