Get well soon. And my heart sank a bit when you wrote something like “it wasn’t a good time to be away” because of the news in the middle east. No job is more important to self-care and I am not even talking about this related to your accident and your immediate needs of self and family care. Your time away matters more than the outside news cycles

David, so sorry to hear about the traumatic accidents you’ve had to endure as a parent and as a victim. Relieved that you both are recovering and will be okay in, hopefully, the very near future. Please take care of yourself. The TPM staff will continue to do a great job providing the news, but I’m happy to see you back even on a temporary basis. You and your son come first.

The sailing accident sounds terrifying. I’m so sorry y’all are dealing with injuries and hope your recovery is uneventful. It sounds like your family has more than its fair share of injury and trauma over the last few months.
Take the time you need. All the mess will still be here when you check back in. And if it’s not, well, let’s all have a helluva party and break out any champagne we haven’t guzzled in despair over the last few years.

Have we gotten to the point where no bad act is punished unless it’s a prosecutable crime? I never believed that “sex trafficking a minor” would stick on Gaetz given the facts of the case (the minor set up a web profile asking to be trafficked and lied about her age), but shouldn’t the extreme “eeewwwww” factor about his actions have led to Gaetz’s expulsion from the House anyway? And if Menendez doesn’t meet the insane legal standard that the SC has established for corruption, will our press then call him “vindicated”? Trump/ Mueller all over again–can’t be legally prosecuted= innocent? Something has gone very wrong and our obsessive focus on the law seems to have become part of the problem.

As a parent I can’t imagine the additional grief of watching your son go through so much pain & trauma & in such a condensed period of time.
