No one can legitimately claim to be surprised. As the comments on a NYT thread emphasized, these are all things that Mr. Trump said he would do during the campaign, but the voters elected him anyway. The fact that he has surrounded himself by spineless sycophants is also no surprise. Total allegiance to the master is the sole requirement for an appointment to the Trump administration. If there is any ‘shocker’ to me, it is the total collapse of the Republican party. I would never have guessed that GOP pols would be willing to abdicate all their powers and responsibilities. Even if we survive Trump 2.0, it is hard to envision how U.S. democracy survives without a functioning conservative party.

LOL…more protection racket shenanigans no doubt. He never pays his bills. NEVER. Instead, he tries to torture the vendor/creditor until they relent and give him a deal. I’m guessing they’ll identify some entities they think will be pushovers who can be bullied into it.

NYT Liveblog:
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said her government had learned of President Trump’s plan for 25 percent tariffs on metals “like everyone else” on Sunday. She said she would wait for the official announcement. “From there, we will make our decisions,” she said. Mexico, along with Canada and Brazil, is a major supplier of steel to the United States.

Did the voters elect him anyway? Or did a monopoly media presence pour out 24/7 hatred and lies for decades, the tax free churches of the confederacy rouse the latent racism they’ve been whispering since the 1960s, and the promise of more money/lower taxes neuter any good sense in a capitalistic society?
Don’t blame those that were lied to when you can blame the liars. Blame those that take up arms based on those lies, at which point rain fire.

All remaining Republicans were purged from the party over the last 8 years. The people with Rs after their names sitting in those seats would be completely unrecognizable to the Republicans of years gone by. They are basically Putin apparatchiks genuflecting to their golden idol Trump.
