We do ourselves a real disservice by trying to divine the rational behind all of this other than pure ego.
Trump doesn’t like “liberal” CA or Hollywood, or LA, or take your pick and he has empowered a bunch of sycophantic idiots as the head of all these agencies. They’re number 1 reason for existing right now is to one up each other for Trump daddy’s approval and they’re going to recklessly do that until people get seriously hurt and Congress puts a stop to it.
I see them loosing the storyline real quick as this continues to escalate because we’re not dealing with sharp tools here.

Just take a look at Trump/AOC voters in my district. Just look at the increase in Trumps margin with Latino voters in 2024. Particularly in border communities as well as bluer states. Many of who have relatives who have applied for legal status. The Bush Rove plan from the 1990’s was fairly successful in cultivating these voters, many of whom are Catholics and Evangelicals. As Bush would frequently say “Family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande”.

When I woke up this morning and read the “news” as I waited for the Morning Memo, I felt like someone watching a leak in a huge pipe growing bigger and bigger. I kept asking myself at what point are we in an actual coup/war? not even 5 months in and we are going to have a$100 million military parade on Trump’s birthday and he is deploying the Marines against California and his sworn enemy, Gavin Newsom. And Newsom is saying that this is the red line and they are crossing it - WAKE UP!

What I am seeing from my own little bubble is a nation chock-full of people who mostly hate everyone (they will tolerate their fellow rubes and bubbas and community) but they hate them too. But make no mistake they hate us and liberals and goverment and colleges and Big City Slickers and teachers and professors and doctors and the DNR and OSHA and TV networks and commercials and Hollywood and Movies and TV Shows and school boards and zoning commissions FAR MORE and altogether at once. They suspend their own squabbling completely if there is anything on The Left that they can hate on. (Thus Tolkien described Orcs)
Their every moment of their whole life was seething frustration. Just like us, the modern world puts a huge strain on people. They blamed us and big cities and gubberment and MSM for all of it. Griping and grousing and shaking their fist at ‘everything’ from real life that challenges people right down to their bottomless grievances for a million inconveniences. And much of it…their own failure to get educated, learn more, deal better, succeed and thrive in a more demanding world.
Truly, democracy is a perilous game. I really think our population is tunneling way below the normal bottom-line of intelligence. I can’t prove it. Most of the world’s history was democracy-free. Like, 99.9% of all humans didn’t live in one. And populations were largely illiterate, quite often, and there wasn’t comprehensive news being broadcast.
The RW has found the buttons to manipulate our low-info nation. These same grumblers and haters are seemingly on the doorstep of getting everything they ever wanted. Payback for all their bottled up hatred and frustrations. They are willing to ride out whatever befalls; because they never expected to be on the brink of winning it all.
There are more of them. Way more, and more coming out from under rocks all the time. There are NOT more of us.

Once the Big, Beautiful Bill is passed millions will lose their health insurance. Poor children will lose food assistance. The wealthy will become more obscenely wealthy. And there will be a dozen lines of legislation later discovered to result in the screwing over of countless other people.
Subsequent polls will show, once all this is publicized and becomes apparent, a sizable majority of voters enthusiastically on board, with all of it. Because that’s now how we roll.
