Rep. Elise Stefanik has been signaling to GOP colleagues that she’s only aiming to serve one term in House GOP leadership if she’s elected conference chair, according to multiple reports.
“I’ll only hold the leadership until then because that’s when my failed bid for the 2024 Rethugliklan presidential nomination will begin.” she said. “I simply won’t have time to lead my cock-us and do the amount of grifting I plan to do in the run-up to the election.”
I think Kevo needs to listen to the Freedumb caucus and replace Chaney with one of their male caucus members. That will show the GOP where the messaging power lies.
Getting your foot in the MAGA door ain’t easy when you’ve been playing both sides of the fascist fence: they like their leaders more ‘dedicated;’ e.g., x.com

In 2014 she presented herself as a moderate and her past career suggested as much - including her writings at Harvard and her work with Democrats like Senator Shaheen /1 …
During the Trump years however Rep Stefanik executed a complete pivot, embracing Trump using the impeachment to build her national profile, securing more Fox News appearances, endorsing him fully in 2020. /8
I recommend this whole thread from a reporter who has followed Stefanik closely: she appears to be smart, disciplined operator with few scruples impeding ambition. She may have made the switch too late to satisfy the more febrile MAGAts but she’s clearly giving it a shot and not minding walking over some dead bodies on the way.
Stefanik is beginning to realize that this maneuver may lose her her seat in Congress. The Trumpists in her district now realize she has a moderate voting record. Sane centrists who agree with Cheney as to Trump see that Elise is a pandering fool.
If I’m not mistaken her district ain’t bonkers. Joining the bonkers boys may lead to her replacement. With the Ds in charge of redistricting in NY they could help her on her way out. That would be a shame.
Supporting a liar in his lie in my opinion makes one a liar as well. This is what I was taught as a youngster: DO NOT LIE because it will get you into all sorts of trouble. I don’t see how supporting trump in his lie can serve any good for a member of Congress.
Although Stefanik’s loyalty to Trump, foremost, has been elevated among her credentials for the job, some conservative lawmakers have expressed concerns over her voting record which has been largely more moderate than Cheney’s.
So was Attilla the Hun’s.
I give full credit to Cheney for taking a stand to defend the core of our democracy, but her voting record is hard, hard right.
