A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

When your lawyer tells you its okay to tell investigators you don’t remember when in fact you do remember …. wow.

You know, when you look at the Republican party as a criminal conspiracy then everything makes a whole lot of sense.

Without corroboration, the Passantino stuff will be hard to prove. Can’t imagine that’s documented unless there is a secret recording.

FYI it looks like Passantino may be taking more than a leave of absence, he may be gone from Michael Best. Your “leave of absence” link leads to a 404 and he’s not in the personnel directory.

If Stefan Passantino was Trump’s White House “ethics advisor”, that explains a lot…

The whole crew has been stupid enough to put pretty much everything in writing – even the lawyers like Eastman, etc, who should have known better. I’m betting the Committee has receipts and are not just passing along hearsay.

They were all so sure they were going to get away with it, that they had no fear of being found out.

Surprise!

I’d like to think that the Zelensky visit to DC and address to Congress is Joe’s idea. Well played sir.

You might be right… but, were I a prosecutor, I might like my odds putting Ms. Hutchison up against almost anyone. You could claim she was lying, but, she rather lacks motive, while Mr. Passantino has plenty of motive to misrepresent material fact.

Even if there is corroborating evidence that sounds like hearsay — there are exceptions to the hearsay rules. This information would not be published if it could not be substantiated.

OT - but please keep this link handy, as I had forgotten about it.

John Eastman, the attorney who architected Donald Trump’s last-ditch legal strategy to overturn the 2020 election, revealed Friday that he routinely communicated with Trump either directly or via “six conduits” during the chaotic weeks that preceded the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Here is that same judge (Carter):

“Dr. [John] Eastman and President Trump launched a campaign to overturn a democratic election, an action unprecedented in American history,” U.S. District Judge David O. Carter wrote in an opinion published Monday. “Their campaign was not confined to the ivory tower — it was a coup in search of a legal theory.”

Even if it’s in the service of righting the greatest wrong ever in the history of the world, and also working to upend the witch hunt against the greatest human being to ever live? Even then? Are you sure?
(Answer: pretty sure it’s still bad)

Even if you’re a Republican? What if you’re only doing it to protect the country from communist, pedophile, socialist, devil-worshipping Democrats? I think the question is more complex than you’re allowing for, here.

Tesla owners are embarrassed by Elon Musk.

A very small number of Ford owners are embarrassed by Henry Ford and those who are not, should be.

I’m now quite certain that a lot of people will go to jail for all of this, including Donald Trump and some members of his family. I don’t see any alternative at this point.

Hey, wasn’t that guy Trump’s top WH ETHICS lawyer?

Like making Jeffrey Dahmer Head Chef in the WH commissary.

Passantino provided his services as an attorney to encourage a client to break the law. That is a career-ending move.

Please pardon me a moment while I go frame your favorite president (who is greater than Lincoln and Washington) for loads of crimes.

Has Kevin McCarthy weighed in yet on all of this, or is he too busy threatening to bleed on Mitch McConnell?
