At least two states are opting out of the federal partnership with pharmacies to distribute vaccines to nursing homes, one of the only areas in which the Trump administration used the power of the federal government to administer COVID-19 vaccines.
Can anyone explain to me how my 50 year old friend in Fort Worth is getting her first vaccine shot today. Empty parking lot, no lines. Unlike the pics she sends me of the food lines.

Gee, I wonder how much of this is related to the “government overreach of the Biden administration!”, or just an attempt to make the Biden administration look bad for the slow vaccine rollout. If the pharmacies have finished their vaccination program, it’s really difficult to say that they hadn’t done anything…and if the complaint is that they haven’t moved on to the next group of people that’s because the Trump administration apparently didn’t set up the contracts for them to do so.
This is just a first shot from conservatives to try to blame the Biden administration for their “failure” to vaccinate Americans. It’s all a political play to try to paper over the failure of the Trump administration to plan for vaccination of all Americans…in any other administration the new team would have been in on the planning and there would have been a smooth handoff. This will continue, and it wouldn’t surprise me for Republican states to refuse federal assistance and interfere in the process while blaming the Biden administration for “failing”…that’s really just how cynical they have become.
And, in both cases, top state officials blamed the chain pharmacies for going too slowly.

Not surprising the previous administration is continuing to screw things up well into the future. FL is a mess though and DeSantis does’t get to blame it on anyone but himself. I have parents in their 80s that live in FL and they’ve been trying to get vaccinated for weeks, but it’s a first come first serve free for all signing up and they are technologically competent and can drive, I can’t imagine what it’s like for people who are not online, not familiar with getting online or finding health information, can’t drive to a vaccine location, or don’t stay up on when and where they are able to get vaccinated. It’s a complete mess there.
My father-in-law lives in assisted living in southern Arizona, and he was supposed to get his first shot on December 28, and now they’re saying he’s going to get it on February 5. He has not received his first shot but the staff has.
I am still pondering having my slot this week, the wife doesn’t and should. And yet I get this from my provider today…

This administration actually keeps records. And is transparent. And has Fauci. And doesn’t seem to have an intent on killing people with bleach cures.

Since Republicans still control the MSM, they can plant any story they want and the MSM will run with it, the more “apocalyptic” the better. “Democrats in Disarray” is STILL the prevailing slant of almost every single major TV network and Newspaper.
Hell, I am ALREADY seeing clearly “planted” stories trickling into the MSM about how “Biden has FAILED TO PROTECT AMERICANS!!!” in his first 3 days in office. Like he is a wizard that can wave a wand and “make it all better” in one go. Not only the far right is doing this, the Far Left is jabbering like maniacs on crack about how Biden has “abandoned Progressive Principles!” and is “already in the pockets of the Corporations!!!”.

My spouse is a retired Walgreens pharmacist. She has been asked to come out of retirement for this purpose. Two big issues. Those who do the vaccinations need to be vaccinated first. Second, no evidence that Walgreens has the vaccines for anyone yet.
My spouse has her first shot and is waiting for her second. No word if and when Walgreens will get the vaccines.
I suspect the R’s will try to blame Biden team, but this program didn’t even move forward until after the first week of January. Lot’s of noise from Trump team, but no plan in place for months. We all knew the vaccination process was coming, but there were no plans on the ground.
Have people forgotten that Jared pushed for the states to be in charge (just like the testing) and each state was to come up with their plan. The states did just that with the given WH #45 admin data of how much vaccine doses they would be getting each week. And gee, the states didn’t get their promised amount on week one. And they are still behind, in some cases by several weeks.
I’ve been trying to get scheduled for the Vaccine #1 for both hubby and myself. My doctor has none, the pharmacy has none, and the city POD will not open to the next phase (1b) because they are not done with the previous phase people.
So it’s all the states’ fault for believing the Operation Warp Speed promises.
It’s the fault of Diaper Don’s minions in not delivering on their promises. I guess you have a point if we just assume they lie as a matter of course. Though we need to be watchful of states that seem to be fucking up intentionally to make Biden look bad and those just a victim of Diaper Don.
My 96 year old aunt in Ohio received her first shot last week. (Her nursing home is working with Walgreens.) It was supposed to have been about 10 days earlier, but at this point I’m glad progress is being made.
West Virginia gave a big FU to the Trump plan and used local independent pharmacies throughout the state. They finished getting all their nursing home people vaccinated a couple weeks ago.
Take it when offered.
Ask yourself, “how would I feel if I declined the opportunity to get vaccinated now, and then later I got sick and passed that on to others in my household?”
I did already, but it still basically is disturbing it came this way.
