State Republican Parties Aren’t Done Punishing GOPers Who Dared To Cross Trump | Talking Points Memo

So the backlash continues.

The California GOP will attempt to censure Rep. David Valadao (R-CA) at a convention this weekend, following his vote last month to impeach then-President Trump for inciting the deadly Capitol insurrection.

So they’re going after every dissenter within their ranks in support of a twice-impeached, one-term loser and insurrectionist, with about a 30% approval rating. Seems like a good idea to me, but I’m a Democrat.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict the state GOP group won’t censure him. Granted there are individual crackpot Republican politicians in the state. But the state party would like to believe it can get the Governor’s job in the future. Those that have that ambition know that being a Trump loyalist is NOT going to get them there.

This actually makes sense when you consider the Republican Party does not value or encourage independent thinking. Like any decent authoritarian entity, they want the lemmings to fall in line with no questions asked. And if they don’t, they will be punished or removed. It’s also what cults do.

Hell will freeze over before Donnie admits that he lost, and at this point any and all state level Republican parties are not dealing with reality, and are in fact enabling a dangerous situation.

It sounds as if they have other infighting in process as well. Definitely shows how thoroughly the trumpists have infiltrated the state parties. Just when you thought no one could be crazier than the teahadi faction.

I’ve come to believe he’ll remain president of their withered little hearts into eternity.

I’ve just noticed that there are a lot of stout people in the G.O.P. Trump. DeSantis. Christy. But stoutness is not correlated necessarily with anything in particular. Look at Hogan. I like Hogan, for a Republican that is. But it’s often the thin ones that you have to keep an eye on. Hawley. Cotton. Again, thinness is not a reliable indicator of anything. We have Ossoff. Rail thin. But you do have to keep an eye on him. Same for Warnock, who is rather more stout than thin. But it’s a muscular stoutness, not like a Chris Christy stoutness. There are different kinds of stoutness when you think about it. Have you ever noticed that if you drink a lot if stout you become stout? But they say that Trump doesn’t drink, so he doesn’t drink stout, and yet he’s stout, but not in a Chris Christy sort of way, definitely not a Warnock sort of way, more like a Hogan sort of way, Hulk Hogan that is, but not muscular, more steriodal.

Well, I guess that’s it for now.

I do believe they have. He was far too amiable for the modern GQP. But surely he’ll forever be Saint Ronald.

Lonnie is somewhere between Ronnie and Donnie.
