State GOPers Aren’t Done Punishing Republicans Who Bucked Trump | Talking Points Memo

Trump added 11 million voters to the party’s bottom line for the 2020 election. They’re gambling that they can keep those extra voters and hoping that all the extra Dem voters go back to not voting. I suspect they’re making a bad bet with that strategy, but the only alternatives are either moderating their policies to appeal to more voters or resign themselves to being an opposition party for the foreseeable future.

And that takedown demand … “since the photos on here are copyrighted property of the U.S. Federal Government” … what the actual fuck? I’m no lawyer, but I do pay fairly close attention to copyright and intellectual property issues, and I’m pretty sure that this is the exact opposite of how it actually works.

Yeah, and Hitler blabbered on about supermen and superiority. We see where that got him- either dead and burned in a bunker, living in South America, or hanging out with Elvis somewhere (damn, why do they put the tabloids by the checkouts).

True, but also their Kryptonite…

Pretty much.

They’d decided in 2016 that they’d have to tow the line and see where the train brings them. Only problem is the line contorted spastically to the point of forming a pretzel. The appetite and ability to untangle the mess just isn’t there, so… “Pretzels for everyone!” Is what they are left with.

Cheney et. al. have the audacity to state that a pretzel isn’t playing straight and now… all the party can do is insist that the pretzel be king.

It won’t be long now before we hear their throngs proclaim ”I pretzel allegiance to…”

I could have said ‘mahdi’, but the most important one did better than Trump.

And their rumpled fedora.

If this Death Cult is to continue, we will at least look forward to the mass KoolAid punch party. Perhaps a one-time Reality TV special can be produced by Mark Burnett. I would pay to see that.

They also aren’t done punishing their constituents who will vote for them anyway.

Gianforte said he hears “from too many employers throughout our state who can’t find workers” and added that the state’s suffering from a “labor shortage” made worse by the benefits.

Suffering.

While the world is still in a roil, the status quo in employment is shifting right under the feet of the “suffering”. Employer’s haven’t a clue what is about to happen in terms of employment in this country. They think it will all be the same as it had been before the pandemic.

The irony is that I bet a lot of those voters were able to vote through all of the things that Democrats pushed for during the pandemic to allow easy remote voting. Their voters are older and really depend on vote by mail a lot more, so shutting that down just might bite them.

They do have the option of creating policies that would be favored by a majority of Americans, but at this point I really can’t think of one where their actual policy is popular enough that people would agree to it if it wasn’t slathered in propaganda sauce. Democrats are doing a really good job of showing what each party stands for, and Republicans are throwing themselves down a black hole of hate and conspiracy…we can only hope their self-sabotage is great enough that they lose bigly in 2022.

I honk that’s called “vertical integration” in the business schools.

Yup. Many Republicans who voted by mail did so because they otherwise couldn’t vote. They are immobile and haven’t had a driver’s licence since they broke the axel of their vehicle by systemic weight stress after their weight exceeded 400 lbs.

Democratic voters flocked to mail-in for it’s convenience and the desire to avoid gathering in a fucking pandemic.

Voting by mail restrictions will cripple the Republicans in 2022. They will reap what they sow.

How does this advance the Ohio Republican Party? Any other business to consider? Is there no one calling for a return to comity, working with the opposition party to achieve goals we all hold dear, etc., etc.?

I do think censure can be used appropriately, but that would be where the target is closely connected to the body doing the censure. I don’t suppose they would reach out to their constituents to see what they should be doing differently.
