Christopher Anderson, former assistant to special envoy to the Ukraine Kurt Volker, will testify Wednesday that former NSA John Bolton warned about Rudy Giuliani’s influence on the President with regards to Ukrainian policy.

The thought that Bolton might be a savior of the Republic is inducing severe cognitive dissonance.

This took place in mid-June, before the now-famous call. All these people were aware something was rotten, yet they waited until after the whistleblower came forward.

However, I think it’s the political appointees like Sondland and those in the WH who are attempting to see which way the wind - or court rulings or indictments - are blowing, more so than the professionals at State or in the NSC who know what their responsibility to the country and Constitution is and are determined to do the right thing.

Bolton is smart, not ethical. He knows the wind is blowing against Trump and you can either be thrown under the bus or be the one driving the bus. Bolton is opting for the latter.

Everything Ukrainegate until now has focused on Trump’s efforts to recruit Zelensky and Ukraine in a scheme to tear down the Bidens, and to peg 2016 election meddling as Ukraine sourced, not Russia.
What if another aspect of this, apart from Trump’s attempt to gain political help for 2020, is Trump was offering a sop to Putin by delaying the weapons deliveries? The election boost was a benefit, but in actuality something was going on with Trump and Putin, where delay, and maybe even eventual cancellation altogether of the weapons sales and deliveries was promised? And that interference was even more important to Trump than messing with the Bidens? I know that presumes a level of scheming on the part of Trump, and secreting the plot throughout from others, that maybe Trump is incapable of maintaining. But I can’t help but feel there is much more to this than we see, and helping Russia probably lies at the heart of it, Ukraine be damned.

I agree. I think the alignment of Putin’s interest with Trump’s against our ally is infuriating and obviously indicting, and that this will not upset republicans, even the once-hardliners like Graham, is certainly telling.

I think it ties to Manafort and Russian oligarch money, so yes, back to Putin. We need to know more about what Giuliani was doing talking to Manafort’s attorney, what’s that end goal?
And how Manafort wound up on Trump’s campaign. And why he pushed Pence as VP.
Sooner or later Trumpco’s attorney-client privilege stonewall has to be forced to a head by House Dems. Giuliani is an attorney, and seemingly everyone he deals with and everything he does he claims is somehow directly or tangentially tied up in legal advice or counsel he was/is allegedly providing to every damned person involved in all this bullshit. It’s his “Get out of giving anyone anything” card, and Dems need to force some court rulings it isn’t going to fly exept in the most concretely defined instances it’s valid.
