State Department security officials were reportedly not given the heads up of the imminent threats to four US embassies, which President Trump said last week justified his authorization of the strike that killed top Iranian military official Qasem Soleimani.
I can believe that. It took Pompeo almost an hour to get the story straight and lie to the world to match Donnie’s bullshit about the embassies.
No wonder they don’t have press briefings anymore. No one can predict what utter fantasy story Donnie is going to spew about any subject and they’ve got to be ready to lie on a moment’s notice.
Well, see, the bad guys used an elf they’d turned to sneak bombs onto Santa’s sleigh addressed to the embassies in question. The bombs were in packages of summer sausage and cheese logs from Hickory Farms, the kind of thing people just stash away and never open, and timed to go off after the holiday, so the administration decided to handle it quietly instead of raising an alarm and setting off a panic among good little boys and girls worldwide. It’s really to their credit, once you know.
Yet and still, the MSM finds it impossible to use the “L” word. When the history of this period is written the utter worthlessness of the Fourth Estate will be the second chapter, right after the one describing the shock of the world that America elected a lying, racist, bankrupt, Russian asset as president.
Various reports have Pompus blowing off the invitation to testify (not cancel) Tuesday. He too busy lying his way to California this week, apparently, after a tiring Sunday shows lie fest.
The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Pompeo’s decision not to testify.
The Downing Street Memo as prototype: “The intelligence was being fixed around the policy.” So, yeah, standard, garden variety Republican administration MO.
According to CNN, one senior State Department said they were “blindsided” when the Trump administration argued that the Soleimani strike was justified due to an imminent threat to blow up US embassies.
Let me get this straight: they told the National Weather Service people that they couldn’t contradict the Sharpied weather map, but they haven’t told the State Department that they shouldn’t admit that the party line isn’t accurate?
G*d is in the details, people. You have to commit to these things if you’re going to just absolutely dismiss truth as an option.
Reading this tidbit that’s just what I was thinking of—
Former State Department officials also told CNN that the department didn’t operate as it usually does in an “imminent threat” situation, given how it would typically issue an explicit warning to diplomats overseas, take follow-up measures to restrict their movements or actively weigh whether to evacuate staff.
