The South Carolina Republican Party’s executive committee formally censured Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) on Saturday over his vote to impeach former President Donald Trump for inciting an insurrection on the U.S. Capitol earlier this month.

It’s exactly as legitimate as a president committing an impeachable offense with two weeks left in his term.
So if the official GOP policy is support Trump or leave the party, Rep Rice should leave.

Jitarth Jadeja told Cooper that he “100%” believed the bonkers idea, which he claimed was prevalent among supporters of the unhinged movement, in a preview clip released Friday of an upcoming CNN investigation into QAnon.
“Did you, at the time, believe that Democrats, high-level Democrats and celebrities were worshipping Satan, drinking the blood of children?” Cooper asked Jadeja, who ditched the movement in 2019 after watching YouTube videos that debunked its premises.
“Anderson, I thought you did that,” Jadeja responded. “And I would like to apologize for that right now. So, I apologize for thinking that you ate babies. But, yeah, 100%.”
A surprised Cooper asked Jadeja, who lives in Sydney, Australia, if he “actually” believed he “was drinking the blood of children.”
“Yes, I did,” replied Jadeja, who said some followers still think Cooper is a robot.
“I at one stage believed that QAnon was part of military intelligence, which is what he says,” Jadeja recalled. “But on top of that, that the people behind him were actually a group of fifth-dimensional, intradimensional, extraterrestrial bipedal bird aliens called blue aliens.”

But just out of curiosity, and à propos of nothing whatsoever, did you hear about the husband-and-wife mathematicians in India who murdered their two adult daughters because … well, I’m not really sure why except … maybe their God told them to do it?
My comment from earlier. You are for them, or against them. The middle ground is dissolving into simply that.
Maybe some of them should consider another point. Today, as a Democrat, I have more in common with the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach versus those that did not.
Actually, if you’ve been following Norman Ornstein, this is sadly predictable. We may argue about the reasons, but the outcome was anticipated by Ornstein and Mann back in 2012.
This seems similar to what happened with the NRA: orthodox adherents drove out anyone who so much as uttered a peep about gun safety. Eventually they were brought down by an underlayment of competing grifters.
Actually, the ones who censured him should leave. Let them form the new Know Nothing Party, except that name’s already been used. Call it the Believe Lies Party.
They’re willing to take down Liz Cheney by anonymous vote, eh? How courageous.
The Republican civil war is pretty much over, as the party is choosing Trump over reality, in an effort to keep their violent supporters in line and voting in 2022. Those who did the right thing and stood against the violence are quickly being thrown aside, and bad actors like Greene are not being punished for their bad behavior.
It bodes badly for the nation…it’s very possible that people forget about Trump’s bad behavior and just go along with the lies being told about the Biden administration and Democrats and put the Republicans back in power.
South Carolina can soon go the way of Georgia. It’s right across the state line, after all.
If they can organize and beat voter suppression in Georgia, they can do it in SC. I mean, it’s just a bunch of Republican fat cats in SC who are making these moves. Send 'em home.
It’s an oft-studied, well-documented psychological phenomenon. Many cult members and con artist marks, being exposed to the truth about the lies and fraud they’ve been fed, will cling even harder to the cult leader/con artist’s lies. They’re not ignorant dupes — you’re the ignorant dupe.
Do we need to worry about Trump rolling up otherwise good people who don’t like him, but just fear his mob if the Trumpers don’t get their way? That seems to be Trump’s trajectory.
