Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) joined many of other Republicans and those in the right-wing media in acknowledging reality on Wednesday.
Voters don’t “mistrust” Republicans on the issue. Voters know Republicans will ban abortion (or books, or (let’s face it) Democrats) without exception given the chance to do so. That’s not mistrust, that’s knowing your enemy.
“Everyone from former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) to Fox News’ Sean Hannity have responded to last night’s electoral victories for abortion rights lamenting the fact that the party is at a loss country is a democracy.”
FIFY teehee…
While the losses last night mounting up against the GQP, there’s nothing in the evening update about the TIFG trial and dear daughter’s (lack of) testimony?? Seems odd.
JD Vance can go climb a cactus.
Meanwhile, the mainstream media is getting dumber by the minute:

“Having an unplanned pregnancy is scary. Best case, you’re looking at social scorn and thousands of dollars of unexpected medical bills,” Vance continued. “We need people to see us as the pro-life party, not just the anti-abortion party.”
So, what’s your plan for these women and the children you want them to have, other than the scorn of you family values hypocrites?
“We need people to see us as the pro-life party,
Lessee… you could look at prenatal and other medical care, affordable drugs, good public education, public health free from unscientific bs, affordable housing, workplace safety… will that get ya’ started?
Hint… anyone who prioritizes birth over the health of the mother isn’t really pro-life. They’re just anti-abortion.
Laughed out loud at this but thought too that Vance and Youngkin really are as alike as two peas in a pod: wealthy, hedge-fund bros cynically playing the political game as less-spittle-flecked conservatives but with no real commitment to any constituent or principle outside themselves.
Did Tuberville actually see how unpopular the anti-abortion position is, or were his eyes closed?
Let’s get going with those promotions, Tommy. Time’s a wasting’.
Fool.
We’ll have them drop their cable subscriptions and get married…s/
In all seriousness - their current plan is punishment and shaming. They’re going to have to come up with something better.
At the heart of the Republican “dilemma” is an inability to accept accountability on a personal level or as a party. As long as the fault for losing is external, as long as the excuse is “off year election” or “too much democracy” they will continue to flail.
The current Speaker of the House claims God chose him for leadership. Do you suppose he’s willing to concede that God placed him into a party of losers who can’t win even in an off-year election. I’m old enough to remember when Republicans used to love off-year elections, because that was the best time to push anti-tax referendums and stuff.
Democrats are murdering babies, eh? Well, I’ll be exercising my right to defraud the government in order to fight those despicable people. Amen.
One of my greatest regrets in life (well, that’s a bit hyperbolic) was buying Hillbilly Elegy for my son one year. And he read it. Shame on both of us but he’s a con man. He can shove his elegy up his nose.
you’re looking at social scorn and thousands of dollars of unexpected medical bills,” Vance continued.
Vance completely ignoring well documented fact that many women - yes, even married women - have abortions because they already have as many kids as they can handle.
No wonder the predisposition to conspiracies. Also, hatred against Catholics, Blacks, Irish, French, Spanish, Greeks, Germans, and all the other subhumans. Oh, the cheerless lives of the Anglo Saxons.
Certainly not government funded health care that would alleviate money problems for about 80% of Americans.
I’ve long felt that TPM is understaffed. On the other hand, there’s so much happening all over the place that it has to be nearly impossible for a small newsroom to cover everything.
Add Josh Hawley to that list.
The underlying problem is not Republicans. It is the misguided, tax-payer-mooching, male-controlled, anti-woman religious institutions that are pulling the strings of their Republican puppets.
Yes,AND REPUBLICANS!
