Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland relayed an exchange he had with Vice President Mike Pence when he alluded to the quid pro quo, and Pence nodded in response.
Per CNN, Pence purposefully skipped town just as Sondland’s testimony was beginning. He’s headed for a ship tour in Wisconsin and an education event in Indiana, all part of an apparent plan to protect him from impeachment inquiry fallout.
Seems legit. Electronic communication devices and journalists are scarce in Wisconsin and Indiana.
Pence should get his ducks in a row pretty soon, witnesses are starting to implicate him, and even if Trump survives it will be another reason to drop himfrom the VP ticket in favor of the Witch of the South (Carolina). 25th amendment Now!!!
The President is protected to a certain extent by law and the corruption of Barr himself, but Pence, Pompeo, Perry, Mulvaney, etc., have no protections. I hope while the Republicans in the Senate are absolving Trump of all his crimes, a few of his equally-dumb henchman go down, including Pence, who is far too dumb to escape this administration unscathed.
Former Ambassador Michael McFaul had an interesting observation, “Everybody is trying to throw Sondland under the bus and Sondland is dragging everyone under the bus with him.”
That release was way too carefully written to deny things that weren’t claimed and not to deny things that were. Somebody is trying to avoid eventual prosecution.
Shorter Pence: I’m not part of the conspiracy, and as much as I adore President Trump, I’m not going to share a cell with him when it comes time to account for myself.
