The Trump-appointed ambassador who played a direct role in the President Trump’s Ukraine pressure campaign “does not recall” conversations where he allegedly linked a White House hold on aid to the country to demands it announce investigations into Trump’s political rivals.
"Sondland also told House investigators earlier this month, according to the Post, that he had no way of knowing whether Trump was being truthful’
Because it’s perfectly OK with the smooth running of this country and to the benefit of its citizens that all political appointees know that the president is a frequent liar and cannot trust him.
“Sondland does not recall any conversation in Warsaw concerning the aid cutoff, although he understood that the Ukrainians were, by then, certainly aware of the cutoff and raised the issue directly with Pence,”
If Sondland truly “doesn’t recall,” then he is hardly in position to dispute Taylor’s testimony. It seems like the person discussing events from memory is far more credible than the one expressly claiming that he has memory gaps.
Initially, before it turned into a joke, “I do not recall” was a staple of Nixon’s Watergate defenders.
It turned into a joke when on of Nixon’s aids in the Senate Watergate hearings answered several unrelated and mostly in a row questions with “I don’t recall”. Kind of like how every Trumpian can’t recall meeting with Russians.
Well, I can see why the Money Thumb disputes it. I mean if people believe a meticulous note-taking veteran and expert on The Ukraine who’s served in government for more than half a century over a political appointee with no diplomatic experience whatsover who only got the job cause he donated a million large to Cheetoh Jesus’s pitiful inaguration, why that could mean:
Sondland (or rather, his lawyer speaking for him) says he does not recall some things that Taylor says happened; and at the same time he is disputing other things that Taylor said.
