A number of prominent Republicans have been pushing back against President Donald Trump as he attempts to undermine the legitimacy of the election by falsely declaring victory before the ballots were counted and pledging to shut down vote tallying through the courts.

I don’t like these guys, but I’m thankful that they are doing this one, tiny thing (AKA, the “least” they could do) to preserve democracy. It’s something Cheeto Mussolini can’t muster, obv.

Talking and acting are two different things. Why should I trust them to do the right thing in the end?

It’s too late for Kinzinger to say that.
Republicans are realizing that Trump is not going to win a second term, and are already working on separating their fortunes from his.
They will concentrate on maximizing the Senate’s ability to obstruct, blame the skyrocketing deficits of the Trump Administration on Biden, and generally spend the next four years pretending that Trump never existed.
Then its the American public’s job (even deplorables) to remind the Senate, that guys like Rubio were singing pre election paeans about him.
“The idea of using the word ‘fraud,’ that there’s fraud being committed by people counting votes, I think is wrong,” Santorum said.
Rick pick a lane, Trump has called things and people frauds since before he ran for President. So all those fine folks squawking now is like a cricket chirping in a hurricane. Why when Trump was calling the press the enemy of the people something you didn’t stand up and fight against?
Kinzinger did, but then he was asked who he backed and volia, he went back to loving Trump.
Credit to those (like Ginsberg) who decried Trump’s corruption before the tallies, political hell to those opportunistically jumping ship now.
And you know what, if Trump proposed something that directly impacts Kinzinger’s district would he stand up, or fall back in line.
And all of these folks knew of Trump’s character flaws before the election so why did they support him? They are all enablers for a very sick man!

Sometimes they don’t need to do that. I think it was Murtaugh (?) who dragged him, but after Kinzinger condemned Qanon, the former dragged him over Mueller.

Republicans decry criminal behavior by the criminal they wouldn’t convict or even criticize for 4 years. I’m sure they are deeply troubled, and that it means precisely zilch.
