To answer the question posed in the headline, it’s bullshit. It’s just a variation of “It’s OK if you are a Republican.” I hate these people with the heat of a thousand suns and sincerely hope we vote a lot of them out in November.

The McConnell rule is “Fuck you, I’ll do what I want.” It’s really that simple.

The “McConnell rule” is nothing more than an expression of absolute power at the expense of our democracy. It’s not just about Supreme Court judges, it is about everything that the Republicans choose to do, as their goal is to take over the nation and rule instead of work together to protect our long history of freedom. It’s time we understand the Republicans in that way, that they have chosen power over freedom, rule over democracy, and themselves over the rest of us.

There is no ‘rule’. IF reelected he will do WHAT the fk he wants when he wants to. This morning we saw the return of Mealy Mouthed Mitt. Lots of ‘traditions, values, history and precedent’ without actually TELLING us what they are…and when you look them up, the few times somebody PULLED something like this it was generally a Republican and they got screamed at by the country. DO NOT tell me ‘what the people want’ when you are hell bent to take it away from them with more conservative ‘absolutely you cannot have anything I disapprove of’ judges.

That pretty much sums it up for the entire GOP.

The “McConnell Rule” is “them with the votes rule”. Let’s hope the Democrats get to put it into full effect come January 20, 2021.

The McConnell rule is that McConnell makes the rules

Schumer on the Senate floor:

“Sadly again, sadly, Leader McConnell has defiled the Senate like no one in this generation. And Leader McConnell may very well destroy it.”

No, he’ll follow through on his political views/ideology. Your comment renders the matter petty, and the views and actions of mainstream capitalist conservatism have real intention and meaning. Anyone who believed any “rule” expounded by one of these politicians has a lot of illusions about the way things are and work.

Is there a point beyond which he will not go to retain power?

The McConnell Rule is just “We’re going to rule this country whether the majority likes it or not and we know they don’t and we don’t care.”

Tom Cotton… “Fuck that, challenge accepted.”

To that I can only add

… and the president doesn’t declare Marshall law and rig things for a New 5/4 SC (Roberts in Dissent) to say “this is all fine, no precedent though” , and cite the Bush v Gore “Precendential non precedent” and say this too is not a precedent.

Or they dismiss… sorry courts have no jurisdiction on the constitution

So What Is The ‘McConnell Rule,’ Really?

Depends on the issue, date, hour, rainfall in in the Sahara and whether his hemorrhoids are acting up to mention just a few variables.

Or it could be as simple as whatever he needs the rule to be at any given time.

Thats easy:

“The McConnell Rule” = “Heads I win, Tails you lose.”

What is the McConnell Rule? Simple:

Куда мы идем, мы идем все

It means that I can do whatever the laws and rules allow. I’m not obligated to hold to your norms. You’re a sucker if you follow precedent or if you hold back on behavior out of fear that it sets a bad precedent.

Came here to essentially write this, though you used far less vicious language than I was going to.
