Sluggish COVID Data Collection? Trump Admin Floats Using Nat’l Guard At Hospitals | Talking Points Memo

The Trump administration will reportedly suggest Tuesday that governors lean on the National Guard to speed up the collection of COVID-19 data from hospitals.

“As a practical matter, I cannot imagine how the National Guard would be able to collect data at the hospital itself nor the number of Guards who would be exposed to COVID-19 in the process,”

Not content with doing nothing on getting US soldiers killed with Russian Bounty or unnecessarily exposing West Point grads to Covid so he would one up Pence, Trump now wants to expose the National Guard to the petri-dish of Covid!

BUT

Is it really the National Guard that the Trump MAL-Admin will send to the hospital or will it be the Trump Militia like what they did in DC to intimidate or change the data?

In what reality does that make sense?

When your only tool is the National Guard, every problem starts to look like a third-world country in need of being invaded.

“As a practical matter, I cannot imagine how the National Guard would be able to collect data at the hospital…"

They’re military. Military are experts at everything. Almost as knowledgeable about everything as billionaires. But nobody knows more about more than Trump.

Something seldom heard anywhere in Trump land…" every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better…""

Why not be open about this and send in your Gestapo

Just think how useful they’ll be in strong-arming school administrators who refuse to re-open and the few ministers who have closed their churches.

This idea will never be acceptable because an accelerated collection of data will increase the number of cases, and we can’t have that — it might make the pResident look bad.

Why not send Bevis, Butthead and Lust Object to enter data? They are the smartest, bestest, most good looking people in the world. They can do anything!

Find something new!

I mean if the delay was related to a lack of bodies to do data entry work, because the medical staff is preoccupied with a surge in actual case work, I guess the idea could be to use guard members to enter the data. But the article isn’t really clear on where the delay in data gathering is coming from.

Not if the NG “correctly” entered the numbers.

Using Trump math.

This is Trump, though. He can’t think of a solution that doesn’t involve pushing his little green army men toward the problem and making bomb noises with his mouth. If there’s a glut in the lobster market he’ll send in the National Guard and direct them to eat a whole bunch of lobsters. It’s literally insane.

When I think about data collection and processing, the National Guard is always the first group that comes to mind.

Simple! If it’s commonly understood you can make things be more efficient by “cutting out the middleman”, Trump’s taking the extra step by cutting out the end. Collecting and organizing data is hard - sending a couple of people with guns to “convince” doctors to say things are going great thanks to the mighty Trump makes things* go so much smoother…

(* “things” = “people not saying mean stuff about him”, that is - nothing about the health of Americans or the country’s economy or anything like that)

On a side note, when the arrests start happening I was thinking it would start with a politician or media figure, but it would suck that much more if the first people locked up are doctors who refuse to lie about the hospitalization or fatality rates.

Careful, he may steal that idea. Announce it as a celebration of Washington crossing the Delaware, rowed over by Marblehead fishermen led by Gen. John Glover.

To help clear the backlog why not use tear gas and things that go bang. Worked before.

Seriously, I’ll bet you the West Wing staff is careful not to make jokey suggestions like that for fear he’ll think it’s a boffo idea and hereby demand it be implemented immediately.
