Probably good to start calling this shadow right wing iteration of the Supreme Court, “The Alito Court.”
Brings them all under the influence of an agenda they no longer pretend is in the shadows.
But something seems desperately premature about their recent gambits. It is as if they see a Republican End Game they can’t avoid, they can’t snap their fingers and make it so even with voter suppression, so they’re getting in their Left Hate licks while they have a false majority.
Or something like that.

My guy from Alabama was called up in 1967. Decided an enlistment would be better than a drafting and went into the Army…for thirty years! Anyway, this young man met and worked with people from all over the country. Traveled all over the world (Europe, Africa, SE Asia). Needless to say, he’s not your typical " entitled old white man". Best example I know that proves that ideas like racism and misogeny are taught but don’t have to be lived your entire life. Another reason to not lump entire generations (Yes, we’re boomers!) into categories.

Perhaps that’s why there is SWAT activity in Deerfield, IL right now. Deerfield is among the wealthiest and highest earning locations in the state. It is also a Democratic stronghold.

I actually work on the exact opposite part of the block in Highland Park where the shooting took place (I wasn’t there today). It’s a place that provides QA Analysis work for people on the Autism Spectrum. There’s a police sniper on the building next to my office. I’ve walked by the street where the shooting took place so many times to get lunch. This is just so fucking unbelievable.

What a surprise. The (Democratic) federal government offering help, probably financial, to the victims and their families, and Republicans … thoughts’n’prayers. Which are darned cheap, not to mention ineffective.

I posted this in another thread, and h/t to @castor_troy for pointing out this new record being set in “Thoughts and Prayers and Moving On” since the shooter is still at large and the bodies were still warm.
It’s actually worse in-context than just what was in the tweeted bit:

They’ve done an amazing job. There’s a lot of confusion, frustration that the parade’s being canceled. They did the right thing because people’s safety has got to come first.”
“The shooter is still at large, so let’s pray for justice to prevail,” Bailey added, "and now let’s move on and celebrate the independence of this nation. We know the mission, we have got to get corruption and evil out of our government, and we have got to elect men and women of honor and of courage to get this country and this state back on track."
He then closed with a prayer on behalf of the families affected by the shooting and law enforcement."

It’s a simple fix I agree but why not a ban on assault style rifles that have to conversion capability? That does not mean all weapons are now banned. It’s just a step.
