Pennsylvania State Sen. Doug Mastriano (R), the Trump ally who marched to the Capitol on Jan. 6, announced his candidacy for governor on Saturday at an event in Gettysburg.
Speaking after the shofar blast at the Mastriano announcement Monday, Michael Flynn praised the performance. “That’s the best shofar I’ve ever heard,” he said.
“Prayer,” the former national security adviser added, “is the most powerful weapon system known to man.”
–TPM story
The most important modern use of the shofar in religious ceremonies takes place on Rosh Hashana, when it is sounded in the synagogueto call the Jewish people to a spiritual reawakening as the religious New Year begins on Tishri 1. The shofar can be made to produce sobbing, wailing, and sustained sounds in sequences that are varied strictly according to ritual. The shofar is also sounded on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, as a call for repentance and sacrifice and for love of the Torah.
It didn’t make any sense but it always got a laugh when my Jewish fraternity brothers called it: “Blowing the chauffeur.” These scenes of rightwing Jew-haters make me wish that “ha shem” would treat this like the Indiana Jones scene:
This entire thing should be treated as the absolute joke that it is. And Flynn? He is the lead clown in the car. Seriously, his comments and the idiots listening to him should just be laughed at.
What a bunch of hooey!
You want to “own the MAGA’s”. Laugh your asses of at them!
