Sharpest Drop On Record: Consumer Spending Plummets 7.5% In March

$1,200 just don’t go as far as it used to, huh?

Other countries are giving as much as $3,000/month, ongoing.

My guess would be that they close their changing rooms altogether.

And that “All Sales Are Final” signs will be everywhere.

This would likely happen even after a sane re-opening.

Well, to be fair, tons of people have their savings and retirements in the market. Besides buying and selling things, tell me what has more impact on regular people?

Indiana is scheduled to “reopen” at midnight Friday. My family and I will stay home. except work (hubby and I are nurses) abd grocery stores. I will buy other item on line as much as I can and our once a week carry out from a local restaurant/bar. I will let science inform our decisions sure as hell not politicians and big business.

I wish! If anything is learnt from this, it should be that we need to manufacture here.

I also think there should be a lesson about food production and the dangers of the centralization we have now. But again, it’s just an I wish. I don’t know where the political will will come from.

This country seriously needs to be reimagined.

But how does he keep his hair so white!

If the Trump folks are planning on a “V” shaped curve after they “reopen” the economy, they’ll need to get the corona virus to cooperate — which won’t happen. Much though I hate to say it, the odds are for a recession/depression, a set of cures gradually becoming available (like for AIDS), followed by a long, slow recovery.

Getting rid of Trump will, no doubt, help accelerate a recovery. If he manages to somehow win the next election, then all bets are off.

I think the stock market got untethered from reality a long time ago.

This country seriously needs to be reimagined.

That’s the first step.

I don’t know where the political will will come from.

Neither do I. Hoping for a great Hollywood ending is all I got right now.

We are still in the Age of Aquarius.

Takes a reimagined economy where you have to delink those quarterly returns for the stock market…

Everything went overseas because it reduced costs, particularly labor, allowing increased profits.

It’ll go right back to that unless you somehow manage to untangle the financial folks and hedge funds and all that shit at the top.

All bonuses are paid based on performance ten years from the date. No more getting a big payout for strip mining a company and then ditching it before the books go to hell.

Trump was right during the campaign: we’re winning so much, we’re getting tired of it:

We need a FDR.

Liz Warren might have done. I hope Biden figures out a way to use her vision.

Just want to point out, there is no cure for AIDS. There are some things that help keep HIV from becoming AIDS, but nothing that “cures” or kills HIV, either. I have a friend who has been HIV positive since 1989. His life has been focused on keeping as low viral load as possible.

As a reasonable barometer, I’d say as long as Disneyworld is still closed, America is still closed. How can we say otherwise?

My sister purchased prescription glasses at Costco and they need to be adjusted for fit. Costco will not even touch them!

You also forgot:
“All this in only SIX WEEKS”.

It took TWO YEARS to reach this level of economic disaster during the “Great Depression” of the 1930s.

Trump has decided masks look stupid and he won’t wear one, therefore every cult member in the administration must also go maskless. That is how cults work.

Pence is interesting in that he looks like he may have also actually swallowed some bleach or at least bathed in it. If he gets any whiter it will be difficult to tell if he has a mask on or not.

In so many ways.

The opportunity losses of the last 2 decades of Republican strangulation have been epic, but this will probably be the saddest of all - that we will probably learn nothing from the election of Trump or the disaster of unpreparedness and incompetence that has made us an international embarrassment in the pandemic.
