Much like false arrests made to put pressure on potential witnesses followed by release at the limit of the time they can be held, the “law” pushes the envelope as far as they know they can get away with.
The Deep South has become a center for the detention of immigrants, and Louisiana is known as a state where detainees often languish in prolonged detention… From Oct. 1, 2020, to May 13, 2021…there was an average of 1,819 ICE detainees in Louisiana… accounting for 12% of detainees nationwide
What explains the disparity between states? Is it private prison profiteering in LA, just plain old prejudices; maybe both?
What’s the old saying, follow the money? Are these ICE Plantations where the immigrant is the cotton being harvested?
They were seen as threats to America’s whiteness by trump and his minions so they were ripped from their parents. Imagine the mental scare for thst young boy being surrounded by armed men like that. What a terrible threat he was.
Ripped from their parents in order to cause them pain. That pain seen as a “deterrent” by trump and Jeff Sessions. It was state policy.
Where are this kids now? Are they still in some warehouse? Deported without parents? Or sent into our “less than transparent” state bureaucracy to be lost in some foster family never to see their real parents again?
Does anyone care? trump sure as hell is happy he caused them pain.
Someone help me out here. What is this image trying to convey? He’s wearing spotless clothes, is well fed, has a razor cut that looks a few hours old. This looks like a person who should not be having issues being here legally.
This is the flip side of the “qualified immunity” con. Without a court decision that the behavior in question is unlawful, the perps just get to do it again indefinitely, and have to be fought from square one each time. You can see why the people incarcerated will take what they can get, but each of those releases should be registered as precedent.
