Perhaps it’s just me, but this is a stultifyingly complex lede. Who? Wha?! Huh?

Sounds like the dialogue in The Wire when Bunk and McNulty are unraveling the shooting of a young woman in her kitchen.

Greenberg resigned for “personal reasons and to spend more time with his family,” didn’t he?

Wonder how that’s going.

The other treasurer-type who has a fascination with BitCoin is Josh Mandel in Ohio. Just sayin’.

Indict him or not, but these stories are tiresome.

Gaetz knew about all of that and did nothing to distance himself from it.

When a woman meets a skeevy guy seemingly bent on plying her with drugs for the purpose of initiating sex doesn’t she have the option to simply say “No thank you” and walk the other direction?

Everyone involved has options.

Seems to me that he would have been charged already, if they had solid evidence to do so.

…'Harlan Hill, a spokesperson for the GOP lawmaker, told the Daily Beast that “the only allegations of impropriety seem to be about Mr. Greenberg, not Gaetz.”. …

The operating phrase here is “seem to be.”

Gaetz is very much in tune with deflecting and attacking in the fine tradition of Roy Cohn and his understudies.

The big question, of course, is when and how Mr. Gaetz himself will have to give testimony under oath, in a deposition or in court. Is there any insight on whether or not this will occur? Any attorneys out there with experience on such matters?

Gaetz exhibits all of the behavior of an alcoholic, a drinking one or a non-drinking one.

Well, Greenberg, your pal Matt Gaetz has just thrown you under the bus. But let me advise you that there’s another bus coming along on this route in 15 minutes. Respond accordingly.

This is one of the most inciteful comments ever written on TPM. It adds so much to the discussion that I’m completely flummoxed. It is such articulate and carefully considered comments that help buttress TPM’s membership numbers.

It’s doesn’t fit on a ballcap.

These very young women said they felt both pressured and trapped. They were in a situation that someone with more power could probably have gotten out of by saying “no, thank you”. But not these very young women.

One might even be correct in referring to some as girls.

Sex with Greenberg? OK. Other women? Sure.

But with Gaetz? Absolutely not. There are limits, no matter how high or drunk one might be.

Most of the people gathering evidence here are, or are in consultation with, attorneys. Now, I’m not saying attorneys who are on salary are going to draw things out because many attorneys bill by the hour. But, then again, some attorneys who might be considering going into private practice might think their resumes are going to look much better if it says how many hours were spent on this or that case; not to mention the whole CYA aspect of such things.

But, to try again to cut to the chase: is there any insight on whether or how it will be feasible to get Gaetz under oath? One avenue is if the then 17-year old’s parents sue Gaetz himself in civil court. That would just about do it. Any other ideas as to how the Feds could eventually get him to testify? I suppose he could plead the 5th, so maybe that’s not the way to go. Perhaps depose some of the people who serve under Gaetz?
