56-44 to try the asshole.
44 Republican Senators are liars or cowards or morally corrupt or all of the above.
There is no way in hell that any Senator should be able to deny their responsibility to try Orange Anus.

I do believe that most gopers need to have there citizenship revoked and thrown over the little piece of the wall that trump built never to return.

“Have they no shame”?

It would be relevant to mention that McConnell blocked them from having the trial while Trump was in office. Makes the argument for letting him off now a bit disingenuous.

Let’s not get into technicalities here.

True. If I say anything bad about Republicans it turns Joe Biden into a hypocrite somehow.

Trump’s Lawyers threw enough shit at the wall to let the GOP off the hook to do what they wanted to do.

I am waiting for tomorrow when we see all the pleads in court about doing what Trump wanted us to do.

That pic of Trump makes it appear that he is experiencing a hemorrhoidal incident. So be it.

Ah, but now they’re on record as claiming it’s unconstitutional. That should provide plenty of cover for an acquittal, because you can’t convict somebody of something if you believe it’s unconstitutional to do so in the first place, and after the compelling word salad Trump’s Lawyer so elegantly spewed today their resolved is justified.

In my nightmares I try to think what would have happened if we’d never flipped the house in ‘18, or the senate last month.

Thank God for those majorities.

So, can it be determined what portion of the United States population these 44 GQP chickenshits represent? I’m guessing less than 25%.

Trump unhappy with his attorney’s performance, sources say

From CNN’s Kaitlan Collins

Former President Trump was unhappy with Bruce Castor’s opening argument on the Senate floor this afternoon, according to two people familiar with his reaction.

Trump was almost screaming as Castor made meandering arguments that struggled to get at the heart of his defense team’s argument, which is supposed to be over the constitutionality of holding a trial for a president no longer in office.

Given the legal team was assembled a little over a week ago, it went as expected, one of the sources told CNN. Trump’s allies were flabbergasted when Trump’s attorneys switched speaking slots at the last minute.

When even T**** knew they royally stunk the place up, you know they really, really botched it. Not that that mattered to the GQP.

I dunno, if those were election percentages we’d all be pleased with the landslide.

Like I said…morally corrupt. The GOP doesn’t believe it’s unconstitutional. These guys are lawyers and they were taught to know better. I listened to the entire presentation and I would not characterize what the defense stated as either “compelling” or “elegant”, but it was definitely spewed word salad. They want an excuse to not find guilt. They are morally corrupt or cowards or liars, or all of the above.

With so much at stake, these assholes continue to shit on our Constitution. Maybe our society has degenerated to the point where we no longer deserve our democracy. Maybe all those graves in Arlington no longer mean a damn thing. Putin would like that.

A couple thoughts on the opening arguments. I heard most of it on the radio, but got home shortly after the “festivities” adjourned for the day, and put on the TV, tuned to MSNBC.

I was surprised by the panel’s reaction. The they spoke like they had just seen a ghost at a funeral. I thought that was pretty nonsensical. They could not have had a single thought that 17 Rs were going to go with the Democrats. But the Democrats did get 6 Republicans, which was the maximum they could possibly get, absent McConnell voting with the Democrats.

More importantly, the Democrats won the day with the American people. It will take a few days for this to sink in nationally, because the vast majority of people didn’t watch the proceedings. They will, however - by the millions - see Raskin’s speech, and they will see the video/movie. And they will hear and read newspaper editorials just dumping all over the Republican lawyers and Trump’s case.

And for the many millions of Democrats and Independents who despise what Trump did, they will see that their Representatives in Congress stood up to T, and his dictatorial regime.

Such a weak attempt at derailing the trial. I have read of at least two historical instances where individuals were impeached after leaving office. (Admittedly, no a President, but still.) The GQP is just looking for cover to acquit this asshole again.
