Prominent Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee pre-gamed Wednesday’s hearing with appearances on cable news to hype President Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr’s “spying” assessment of the Russia report.
Whenever I see videos of Grassley speaking, I momentarily wonder if I’m looking at the front end or the back end of a donkey. Today I’m going with back end.
Repeat (for the last time today, some may be glad to hear):
If the Democrats had a master narrative that the GOP is no longer fit for power in America, it would be much easier to respond to the ever-changing GOP bullshit. You would not be forced to argue the minutiae on their terms. You would be in a position to refer to the fact that the GOP has gone to the dark side and that this is more evidence of their unfitness for power.
GOP is now reduced to simply lying in the face of hard evidence or testimony to the contrary. Just ignore them and make your case to the people. Push the media to be better. GOP is in the same spot they were during the Iraq War when they were covering for Bush. Just keep hitting them media and the coverage will change. GOP is a sinking ship.
I can only mentally handle for a few minutes at a time how thoroughly corrupted the GOP is. Part of their trick is that without a great imagination, the public assumes they can’t be as bad as they appear.
He’s a rootin’ tootin’ Texan, sportin’ beards and drinkin’ booze
He wears them goldern cowboy boots instead of proper shoes
He’s gained a manly barn jacket, his soul he tried to lose
Smile when sayin’ “Your wife’s a dog.” when talkin’ to Ted Cruz.
Republican politicians and right-wing media create and live in a completely no-observable/provable-facts, no-reality, no-ethics, no-honesty, no-integrity world, in which corruption and lying and Russian-style propaganda are so pervasive it’s the only thing they do.
And 40% of the people in this country are right there with them. And another 10% either don’t pay any attention or don’t care.
This one’s easy - “How did you vote for the latest FISA legislation, Grassley? How did you vote for FISA legislation every time it’s come up since 2001?”
By the time we get to the heat of the campaign voters are going to believe every single thing various investigations have proven Trump and his minions guilty of are crimes that were actually committed by Democrats.
The GOP knows Trump is guilty. They know because they are guilty. They would rather subjugate our country to Putin than live in a country that could and would elect Barack Obama to be president.
They have made a leveraged bet on a corrupt future in which they will be in power. They are not in the dark. They are not unconvinced. They are cheating to win big.
Putin fears taking on China head on, but no worries when you own numerous members of the US House and Senate to do your dirty work. Ted Cruz is doing journeyman’s work for the Kremlin these days in the China-bashing arena. From the South China Morning Post,
The Texas senator and former US presidential hopeful is just about the worst specimen of American politicians – a hypocrite skilled in exploiting every situation for leverage and a power play
That could be a front to fight on, use every insult Trump used during the 2016 primary against his Republican opponents to either shut these MFs up or make them admit Trump was correct about what he said about them.
The entire Republican Party has declared an open war against the truth and the United States. The differences between us are no longer an issue of policy. We can have disagreements there, but we need to maintain our sovereignty and identity of a free nation where the truth is known and used. While some individuals and groups historically have attempted to use misdirection for their own ends, we have ultimately managed to re-establish and understand reality. At this point in time, we formally need to recognize that the approach used by the Republican Party and its leadership has changed, and now it is to win at any and all costs, including allowing and using the actions of a hostile enemy - Russia. A wonderful op-ed article was published in the NYTimes and I encourage all to read it.
