Many Senate Republicans, including several members of the Appropriations Committee, seemed unconcerned by a government watchdog report released Thursday that found that the Trump administration’s broke the law by withholding aid to Ukraine.
You only need to remember that, when it comes to Repuglicans, there is no bottom. Saves wear and tear on the outrage meter among other things. Well, it reduces the need for self-medication anyway.
(idiomatic, law) A decision in bad faith to avoid becoming informed about something so as to avoid having to make undesirable decisions that such information might prompt.
Anyone expect anything different? They’re going to stick their heads in the sand and ignore everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if all Repubs just vote to dismiss the case before anything else so they can avoid having to hear or see anything
I guess my lack of shock is the reason no one is walking up to give me my winnings right now.
Get used to this, for the next couple weeks this will be the response of every Republican senator to any new information that comes out about Trump’s misdeeds. Deflection, derision, those will be the methods that they use to avoid dragging in all the new stuff that comes out that shows Trump did wrong. This will be the second impeachment where Republicans behave badly.
(1) If McConnell and the GOP were that dismissive of this process, we would not still be having this Senate “trial”, nor would these GOP Senators be going through these motions of “propriety”. They would simply provide no reason at all and say: “We’re with Trump all the way, no matter what you say or do.” They have not done that.
(2) This is not about the GOP Senate at all, anyway. This is about the people who will vote them out of office and this is especially about the National, State and District polling on Impeachment for members of Congress.
(3) This is also about the Fourth Estate. If it chooses to normalize this behavior, they and their institutional integrity will dissolve into Government Propaganda Dissemination.
Even though it’s absolutely unsurprising, it’s still hard to believe that they’re doing this out in the open, without any thought or respect for the Constitution or their oaths of office.
But they’re not going to escape unscathed. I want to see grown men and women cry when all their plans and agenda go up in smoke. The country will survive, but they’ll be an unfortunate, infamous footnote.
Ben Franklin wasn’t talking about these traitors when he said this, but it applies to them, nevertheless, and I doubt he’d be surprised that such people exist.
We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.
It’ll be very satisfying to see them “hang,” one by one.
