Several prominent Senate Democrats asked the Defense Department inspector general to investigate the White House withholding congressionally approved military aid from Ukraine. The funding has become a key element of the saga unfolding around President Trump’s call with the president of Ukraine and a whistleblower complaint detailing Trump’s efforts to get the foreign leader to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden.

The Pentagon certified Ukraine as substantially in compliance re: corruption reform, specifically clearing the way for release of funds should any objection to the release be raised on those grounds. Why the hell does this not get more mention, including in this article?

Senate Dems Asks Defense Dept IG To Probe Trump Withholding Ukraine Military Aid
<grammar_nazi>
What they’re asking the Defense Department to probe is not Trump but the withholding of Ukraine military aid, so it should be “Probe Trump’s Withholding.”

I was just a wee lad when Nixon had his turn in the barrel. As a former teacher and current student of history, this morning’s testimony resurrected childhood memories of ferocious arguments in support of Nixon and the eventually worm turning that brought Nixon to ground.
The surreal nature of the facts –from dumping the phone conversation into a classified database to efforts securing that it remained hidden– all point to the same thing: coverup.
My foremost concern is that Schiff and others will move meticulously to make this a model process of good prosecution. It should be so meticulous, in fact, that Lindsay Graham will be compelled to ask, “What did the president know and when did he know it?”
It might even do me some good to hold my breath for so long.
