Senate Dems Ask Roberts To ‘Ensure’ Alito Recuse From Key Tax Case

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee asked Chief Justice John Roberts to “take appropriate steps” so that Justice Samuel Alito would recuse himself from a tax case that the Court agreed to hear next term, as well as any cases involving laws that regulate the High Court.

I look forward to the day when the Supreme Court is no longer the chief defender of corruption.

Sweet Jeezus on a Cracker! This shouldn’t even be an issue. Sam’s gotta go! It’s past time for an impeachment hearing (or two, three).

Alito doesn’t recuse, he refuses!

The Senate Dems should probably have also asked for help getting Alito to resign his seat. They would be ignored on that as well.

Alito is a bad apple.

And there will NEVER be enough Republican Senators to vote for impeachment to make that a possibility. Unless we run the table and get to impeachment numbers or take the Senate with enough votes to overturn the filibuster and increase the number of Justices on the Supreme Court, we are stuck with the corrupt Republican appointments.

While I don’t expect Roberts to actually act upon this request, it is still important to keep pointing out the conflicts of interest, refusals to recuse, shady friendships with billionaires and everything else they do that is unethical. Ethics matter and we cannot walk away from this as though it is a lost cause. Sunlight and shaming are necessary every. single. time they show us their corruption.

Just in case anyone is confused …

The Moore v US tax case is related to the ability of the federal government to tax unrealized gains as income.

You know, like those enjoyed by, oh, I don’t know, maybe people like Alito’s billionaire pal Paul Singer. But who’s to know? I suspect it’s like knowing which bait works best for salmon fishing.

Alito is a lightweight. He reportedly told the WSJ reporter that Congress can’t be involved in the Supreme Court. He is wrong on the facts and that is jarring to this kid because he is a Supreme. On the SC. That he doesn’t know this basic law is troubling and dispiriting. Between and Thomas, the inmates appear to be in charge of the SC. Holy mackerel.

The Dems are laying down markers for Robert’s, if he is smart to pick up and get his house, (the SCOTUS), in order. Robert’s has about one year.

If the Dems run the table and win the trifecta in 2024, (House, Senate and White House), I expect the elimination of the filibuster and a complete re-write of the obsolete Judiciary Act.

If Justice Roberts does what they ask, then he may not see much he objects to in the new law. If he doesn’t, then he will see an expansion of the Court to 13 Justices, (in accordance with Jesus and the twelve disciples), and a reduction of the SCOTUS’s jurisdiction to something much less than current practice, (Marbury v. Madison).

If congress drastically reduced their funding is it legal for their oligarch friends to fund the court for them?

I’m amazed that the Dems are “asking” Roberts to get Alito to recuse. Rather they should “rell” him to do it or no funding.

Ethics experts differed when asked by TPM last week about whether Alito’s apparently free real estate in the Wall Street Journal opinion section was of great enough value to cast doubt on Alito’s impartiality.

Anyone having doubts about Alito’s impartiality is a total idiot. Alito has made it cklear enough over the years that he is a total religious zealot, in cahoots with the moneyed interests.

Dems don’t have the votes to back up their threats, and Roberts knows it. Making a threat you can’t follow through on is a bad look, and Dems know it.
