Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)

So 2 pubs voted for her?

Surprising.

Another victory for diversity in America…too bad that Republicans are so full of hate for anything that is outside their white heterosexual boundary. The nation is going to leave their ancient attitudes behind, the upcoming generations will refuse to play these kinds of games as they see the value in different peoples.

Levine replied that transgender medicine is a “very complex and nuanced field with robust research and standards of care that have been developed” while offering an olive branch to Paul if confirmed by the Senate. “If I am fortunate enough to be confirmed as the assistant secretary of health, I will look forward to working with you and your office and coming to your office and discussing the particulars of the standards of care for transgender medicine,” Levine said.

I’m not entirely certain Sen. Paul would consider that an olive branch. Perhaps more of a threat in his mind…

They wore periwigs so I’m guessing they would be ok.

Makes me Pennsylvania Proud as well, but sad we lost Dr. Levine in our PA fight against COVID. We could really use her right now.

Dr Levine’s responses to Paul in committee testimony was a master class in how a classy person responds to an oaf.

Is there a day coming when we can STOP giving one shit about someone’s personal identity and focus on their ability, proficiency, and productivity to just do the job?

No one ever gave a shit about me being a white, college educated professional with the ability to speak noises into words, words into paragraphs, and then into PowerPoints about my sexual orientation? Of course not. I was part of the 'accepted normal" But, we are smarter.

So, let’s stop judging on our so called accepted norms.

I’m into best outcomes by the best people. Let’s talk about what everyone can do.

Well, I am all for the day we do not have to create defining categories and people just have a life. But for the moment, it isn’t there yet by a long shot. Some of that is necessary for the moment.

Living in PA I saw her daily on the nightly news and found her to be easy to understand and very thorough, I am glad to see that she was confirmed.

What was the premise for 48 votes against her?

I really like this thought, but would also add “provide the best outcomes for the best people” as well.
There is the corollary too: Worst outcomes by the worst people. Best way to correct this in politics is to Vote Blue!

Sadly, but most likely, something akin to……“He’s a freak who thinks he’s a woman!”
