I suppose this should be applauded as a GOP primary challenge could make the GOP nominee easier to beat. But otherwise it makes no difference. E.J. Dionne say, and I agree, that the GOP must be defeated so badly, a Goldwater like defeat, so that the party either dies or completely changes from not only the party of Trump but also the party of Bush Jr. To be sure, in my view, lying America into and then losing an unnecessary war, turning surplus to deficit and wrecking the economy, and the only real difference on race is Bush used code, âvaluesâ and Trump does not bother with the code; Bush was worse than Trump thus far. But the point is the problem is much greater than Bush and Trump. The number 2 House Repug use to claim to be âDavid Dukes without the baggageâ which by definition is a clansman with the hood still covering his face. Also, Bushâs Supreme Court picks were equally as bad as Trumpâs as would be those of any current Republican.
The 2020 Republican Party which has its roots starting in 1980 with their âSaintâ Reagan needs to be repudiated. To move forward from Trump Americans need to made clear politicians cannot rely on winning elections with vast money from the top 1% in exchange for policies that redistribute wealth to the top 1% and get votes from the masses through Racism, Xenophobia, Misogyny, fear mongering, flag waiving, religious bigotry to include gay bashing and just screaming at their opponents âSocialismâ.
In short the current GOP is an infliction that must be totally eradicated or, as what happened after Bush Jr., it will return.

But if the Democratic party doesnât, as a single unit, highlight all this stuff and stop the purity search and stop the infighting, itâll be a missed opportunity that could throw the nation into this dark night for generations to come.
