It remains dizzyingly unclear when we will have a functioning government again but we do have some news out of the California Senate race for late-Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat:

Steve Garvey needs to find a new hobby.

Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA), doesn’t plan to run for a full term.

Good - straight (and very expensive) fight between Schiff and Katie Porter, then.

Steve Garvey was apparently a decent baseball player, but is a dreadful human being - so perfect GQP candidate. I don’t see him getting onto the final ballot.

Senator Laphonza Butler is so much better than any gop elected Senator, it isn’t even funny.

She said that she could do more of what SHE wanted to do elsewhere, but she was going to work just as hard for California while she represented the state.

How could anyone ask for more of someone willing to serve.

Any opportunity for an LA Dodger, current or former, to lose is OK with me.

What was the deal w/him and Cindy Garvey? Can’t remember now but I seem to remember a contentious split-up.

We lived in San Diego when Garvey was a star. We love baseball and had a great time watching him. As far as being a candidate for one of the two California US Senate seats, he has nothing to offer but name recognition.

“Knowing you could win a campaign doesn’t always mean you should run a campaign.”

Very smart woman. A good representative.

This lady’s bona fides are no joke.

Dems have such a deep bench, but Organized Money keeps half the seats filled with GOP shitstains.

I doubt we’ve heard the last of Senator Butler.

Newsom did a helluva job threading that needle
bravo for keeping his thumb off of the scales
also smart not to alienate any wing of the party prior to his presidential run.

Borderline Hall-of-Famer, actually, but a creepy snake oil salesman.

All star hall of fame level infidelity, I believe.

Yeah, but Dodger, so gets marked down a lot.
