Wise man: That’s politics and he still has to work with Sinema and get re-elected in a purple state himself.

But I bet he’s holding his nose.

Purple state politicians are like abused spouses. The guy that’s beating you is also providing you housing and paying your bills. So you reluctantly, but out of necessity, don’t leave him.

work with Senator Sinema on Arizona priorities

sadly, Arizona priorties rank far below Sinema priorities in Kyrsten’s view.

I hope he’s holding his nose.

Frustrating as this is for us, this was the right thing to do.

And just imagine how frustrating it must be to not let your frustration show.

I believe he’s a good guy and a good fit for Arizona.

We need him to be re-elected at the mid-terms.

Important to keep in mind that this gives him some leverage over Sinema. He’s her last D friend in the state now. It also provides a smidge of protection against her flipping.

I think it a miss step by Senator Kelly. The democrats here in AZ are pissed off at Sinema and the censure is a wet noodle slap that misses her wrist entirely. She may even see it as a good thing to brag about to her Goober friends and handlers.
Careful Mark. Don’t fuck up too much…

Holding his nose? I suppose so. I think Kelly can get reelected. I hope so and plan to vote for him as he hasn’t made an idiot of himself yet. He’s filling out McCain’s term and is up for election on his own in 2022. I also dearly hope we flip our state House at minimum which would scare the pants off our state Senate. We are soon to be a blue state I think. And it will still take years to shake off the long… way too long Goober dominance of our state politics. Remember that the GOP has held our state House and Senate since 1969. And as I have said many times… That just ain’t healthy.

This is okay. Show “moderation” on something that doesn’t matter, be loyal when it counts. This is the opposite of Sinema. Kelly is still great in my book. He will sit out the primary and quietly root for Sinema’s challenger.

Kelly is an astronaut but Sinema is the one taking up space.

I doubt Sinema is a friend of Kelly’s. He hasta work with her but he doesn’t hafta like her.
Goobers still are dominant in our state House and Senate so Sinema has got “friends” here. Just none among the democrats.

Kelly played this just right.
It should work to his benefit.

I couldn’t agree more. I vote for more astronauts in Congress, fewer millionaires, lawyers, and lunatics.

Ah…darn…I thought you were going in the “she’s the loony one” direction.

That’s the correct answer. It doesn’t do him any good or benefit him in anyway to publicly go after his fellow AZ Senator. But I wouldn’t be surprised to find he’s had some interesting conversations with Rep. Gallego.

He did I guess.
It will work to his benefit I suppose.
But understand the rage here at Sinema. He approval poll is under 8% Disapproval north of 80% She’s not liked here and even the Goobers here who can sometimes think do not trust her.
Essentially she voted against a basic right the right to vote. She counted the filibuster more important that the right of the American people to elect their representatives in our government. House, Senate and Executive branch. How the hell does a filibuster out rank voting? What idiocy does it take for a ‘professional politician’ (she’s been a politician for 20 years) to damage that thing which gets them their goddamned jobs?

Sinema is going to be the Typhoid Mary of AZ Democratic politics for the rest of her unnatural life.
She deserves it.

But Kelly is doing a very careful dance to keep her just close enough to work with, but not so close that it hurts him in November.

Oh how folk around here feel… it makes Typhoid Mary a hero.
If she is an ally of Kelly it will hurt him. She could sink him by endorsing him.

There’s a reason this is coming from a spokesperson for his reelection campaign and not from the senator himself. I don’t imagine he much appreciates being put in this position where he’s got to answer for her behavior. I bet he likes it even less that he’s got to run for reelection without being able to brag about more accomplishments due to her obstruction. As much as any of us might dislike Sinema, Sen. Kelly probably likes her much, much less.
