Sen. Blunt: Trump Needs To ‘Step Up’ On Gun Violence Prevention

“The President needs to step up here and set some guidelines for what he would do,”

The “President”, McConnell, the Democrats. So many people to whom the buck may be passed. Typical “Republican.” Never responsible for anything. Ever.

He nearly forgot to blame Democrats, and screwed it up when he remembered.

I don’t live in Kentucky any more but think it would take one hell of a blue wave to bump Moscow Mitch out of his seat. Kentucky has 120 counties – third in the union after Texas and Georgia – and most are small, rural, and conservative. ‘All politics is local’ goes double there and state government is very strongly influenced by county-based, local power brokers; pretty hard for anyone to get far in business or politics without playing ball with them. Moscow Mitch may not be liked much – don’t think he’s won by more than a couple points in the last three elections – but he knows how to play that ballgame.

Since the slow coup started and The Family ordered it.
from a NYT comment writer . .

Let’s remember that Richard Hatch, the first mass-market reality TV star, was a bartender, auto salesman, real estate agent and a corporate trainer/consultant/conman for his own company before his Survivor ‘career’.

After his ethics-free Survivor win, Hatch was charged with tax evasion and was convicted in 2006 and served a 51-month sentence in federal prison.

Trump, of course, is the same ethics-free conman personality that Hatch is.

If America had a decent justice system - and a decently funded IRS - Trump would have been in federal prison for tax evasion many years ago.

The President of the United States is a world-class tax-evader.

Lock him up, just like Richard Hatch !

Sure. Blame the Dems, who don’t have a majority.

Whyn’t Toad ask Blunt about the number of bills passed by the House with significant majorities that are languishing on #DitchMoscowMitch’s desk, not even brought to the floor? Maybe if #DitchMoscowMitch would bring those bills to the floor for an up or down vote, they might actually force the President to take a position. If one never asks, one never gets an answer and that’s the coward’s way out.

Trump will do nothing to upset his base and Moscow Mitch won’t allow a veto override in the Senate. So the Republican plan for dealing with mass shootings is going to be 1) Death penalty for convictions, and 2) Bring back mental institutions, with construction and staffing by Trump loyalists.

It’s win-win because he gets to look tough with the death penalty and also pocket kickbacks for the mental institutions.

Yep still waiting for that Republican healthcare plan that he promised in 2009 when he was Representative.

And when wife #2 was the lead lobbyist for Big Pharma. I knew him when he was in Jeff City and then when he parked himself at the Baptist college outside of Springfield. What a waste of good inhalations.

Every wonder how our state would be if Mel hadn’t been killed? And if you’re my age or more, if Jerry Litton hadn’t also been killed? Utopia!

Hiding behind Republican obstructionism. It’s easy to say “do something” when you know you will never have to do anything. It’s easy to be “critical” of Trump when you know you will never have to actually act on your criticism. Moscow Mitch’s legislation by black hole hides many crimes beneath its event horizon.

We should all chip in and buy him a fast ATV and a few cases of his favorite booze.

A Fargo man fatally crashed on his ATV while searching for his younger brother who had done the same moments earlier, authorities said Sunday.

The crashes occurred early Friday evening about 10 miles west of Valley City in a rural area of Barnes County, according the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The first of the brothers to die was identified by the patrol as Kyle Foster, 43, of Tuscon, Ariz. Fatally injured barely 10 minutes later was Jeremie Foster, 47.

Neither had on helmets, and “alcohol is a factor in both crashes,” a patrol statement read.

I’m game.

A couple avid hunters loaded their gear and headed to AK for The Big Hunt. Each killed game twice the legal limit and when the bush pilot landed, said he couldn’t take all of the cargo. “But the guy last year let us load it all up,” they replied.

The pilot, knowing he was the best in the business, relented and let them load their kill. After racing down the frozen valley, the plane slowly but surely climbs off the tundra only to be pulled from the air by a unforgiving tree line. Several minutes after the crash, the hunters regain consciousness. “Did we make it?” The first asks. “Yeah, about a hundred yards further than last year,” came the reply.

My favorite hunting joke:

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, “My friend is dead! What can I do?” The operator says, “Calm down. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a silence; then a gun shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says, "OK, now what?

Earlier this afternoon I unexpectedly glimpsed the Great Leader golfing at his Virginia property. (Our tax dollars at work!) I’m guessing his large entourage included one guy with a shovel to dig a hole near wherever the ball landed, and another guy to modify the scorecard with a Sharpie.

Let me get this straight - the Republicans are in charge of the Senate - Moscow Mitch is sitting on several pieces of gun safety legislation passed by the House several months ago - and good ol’ Mitch says he plans to do absolutely nothing about mass shootings until he receives marching orders from trump - but it’s all Schumer’s fault. …Riiigggghhhttt!

Five people have died from vaping incidents in this past month. Vaping has been around for 15 years with no real problems until recently. I’ll wager some Republican will introduce a bill outlawing vaping before we see any movement on gun control. Can’t believe the press the vaping deaths have gotten. The Minnesota man who recently died was 65 years old and suffered from chronic lung disease for years. They claim his cause of death was from vaping THC shortly before he died. Never mind that the THC had nothing to do with it, it was contaminants like vitamin E oil that was responsible at least four of the deaths.

I feel the exact same way about Rob Portman. I tell him so on a weekly basis. He doesn’t even have the spine to defend himself to me.
