Secret Service Claims It Can’t Recover Deleted Texts

The Secret Service reportedly determined that it is unable to provide deleted texts messages from Jan. 5 and 6, 2021 to the Jan. 6 Select Committee in response to the panel’s subpoena last week, a senior official briefed on the matter told the Washington Post. The same official also told the Post that any other texts that agents exchanged around the time of the deadly Capitol insurrection were purged.

I’ll text in a FRIST!

(The photo got deleted)

Russia, if you are listening, can you find these texts and sent them to Mar-A-Lago, USA?

Thursday can’t be the last day of hearings, the J6 Committee needs to talk to some SS agents.

Time for the Archives and J6 to ask DOJ for prosecution.
Texts from historically important J5 and J6 dates do not get deleted accidentally.

It is time for us to disband the secret service. We have an organization that can take over protection rolls right away, the US Marine corps. The rest of the role Secret Service plays can be done by the treasury department, under their auspices.

With copies to the Jan. 6 Select Committee.

In fact, forget Mar-a-Lago and just send them to the committee.

I have a hard time believing those texts don’t exist on a server somewhere.

These days I’m of a mind to roll the Secret Service and the ATF into the FBI. If the NRA party won’t fund the AFT to enforce existing laws, what is the point? Time to see if they will defund the FBI.

And the Secret Service has outlived its time. There was no FBI when it was founded. Or AFT or TSA or CBP or Capitol Police or…

Looks like the IT guys depended on the agents to manually backup their texts before “migration.’” Then, they didn’t check to see whether that had been done.

Or, they’re just fucking lying, and deleted them all on purpose.

Some SS agent who isn’t up Trump’s ass, needs to come forward.

You want what? Oh, wait… oops those were deleted because …(fill in the blank).

It is called covering their *sses. Those texts are/were like gold to the committee and OIG and DOJ.
Who gets the subpoenas?

How can they be a secret service if Congress is allowed to see their emails?

The Supremes will back me up on this because there was no such thing as email when the service was invented, so expecting them to keep something that doesn’t exist is clearly outside the scope of the Constitution.

Well, come on! Whoever would have guessed that any communications on the day before and the day an armed insurrection and breach of the Capitol building would be worth keeping?

This isn’t even defensible. No way does something like this happen in today’s I.T. world, in today’s national security world. This was a purposeful act and represents a major explosion of political-criminal behavior at our highest level of law enforcement.

This isn’t going away.

document production did not include any of the potentially missing texts from Jan. 5 and 6, 2021 because the agency is still unable to recover any records that were lost during a phone migration in that time period.

This reminds me a bit of NYC construction company book-keeping practices, where everything is carefully kept on paper in a trailer office in one corner of the equipment yard. The trailer then burns to the ground every 5 or 10 years.
