The cynicism and financial self-dealing of NRA’s leadership is truly epic. We’ve suspected as much going back to the 1980s. I’m so thankful for these journalists who found proof that the NRA has devolved into the worst kind of institution: an out-of-touch, self-perpetuating grift. Frankly, even 2nd amendment extremists deserve better representation of their viewpoint. Nobody should ever be happy to ever see a non-profit secretly spend money - donated in good faith - on luxury perks for senior leadership. Rules that demand non-profits accurately report salaries and perks is critical to maintaining trust with the donor and member base. If it takes high salaries to retain effective employees, that needs to be disclosed and justified to the dues paying membership and/or donors. Once you start hiding compensation and perks, it makes the organization look like a con.
As usually the case, the entire leadership team was in on the grift, and they were all dirtier than us honest folks could imagine. I hope Ms. James successfully puts an end to this corrupt, self-serving and endlessly destructive to America society, organization.
there were certain ‘insiders’ and vendors who took advantage of the Association.
aaawwww, that’s a darn shame.
I don’t know why this is remotely a scandal. I’m betting NRA members don’t give a damn. Part because they know they’d do exactly the same thing, and part because the NRA did what they wanted - which is squash every sane gun law there is. So they got their money’s worth.
I love how LaPierre’s excuse was that he was frightened of threats on commercial travel. Really? Why? You can’t bring a gun into an airport. Libtards aren’t going to waste that latte getting cold by taking the time to punch you.
It’s astounding to me that this tiny cabal of evil wealthy white men - Bush, Cheney, LaPierre, McConnell, Trump, Musk, Zuckerberg - have been able to make millions of people miserable - that’s their life. Living well and making sure millions live in fear and doubt.
