Second Expelled Dem Expected To Be Appointed Back To Tennessee House Today

Ousted Tennessee Democrat Justin Pearson of Memphis is expected to be appointed back to the state House on Wednesday almost a week after he and his Democratic colleague, Rep. Justin Jones of Nashville, were expelled by the Republican-led House for participating in a peaceful gun protest from the floor of the chamber.

Hope it’s “Revenge of the Justins.” time.

Yes, they will re-seat him.

And I sincerely hope that when the special election takes place for those seats, people make a very loud deal about the pointless costs to the taxpayers for these. VERY loud. Taxpayers are paying for racist temper tantrums.

So if I’m understanding this correctly, this is working out very well for the Tennessee Rethugliklans.

These two young men are here at the appropriate time. They both combine youthful energy and passion with unusual maturity, charisma and perspective.

The young literally are among our last hopes. Their numbers provide the necessary votes to challenge the near-regimented and consistent individuals who vote Republican. The youthful energy I referred to above has been dormant on a number of pivotal junctures in 21st Century elections.

These young men face the task of putting forth the political landscape to their cohorts in a way that translates to urgency and purpose.

It is a passing of the Torch.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—House Republicans expressed alarm after an increasingly unhinged Rep. Jim Jordan subpoenaed himself to testify before Congress.

In a blistering statement, the House Judiciary Committee chairman demanded that he comply with his subpoena and called himself a “toadying Soros-backed flunky.”

“The message to Jim Jordan is clear: you can run, but you can’t hide,” Jordan said.

The Ohio congressman warned that, if he refused to testify, he would have “no other choice” but to call for himself to be jailed.

Behind the scenes, Jordan’s G.O.P. colleagues discussed replacing him as the chair of the Judiciary Committee with a more mentally stable member of their conference, such as Lauren Boebert or Marjorie Taylor Greene.

…and here’s why this is bad news for Biden’s agenda.

This is perfect.

So those expelled are going to be back…

Meaning the net effect of the Republican shenanigans here are to have drawn attention to

  • their fealty to the gun lobby,
  • their inhuman disregard for children’s lives,
  • their open naked racism,
  • their open naked partisanship,
  • their bully tactics to punish the black constituents of these lawmakers

And to think, had the legislature instead issued a vote of disapproval for the protest, we wouldn’t be talking about it.

Petards for everyone !!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Exactly what happened.

I really love the fact that these men are both named "Justin "-- a name that means: fair, just, honorable, honest, righteous.

I don’t think I need to add that the name “Gloria” – as in Gloria Johnson, the third TN House member, who was excoriated, but not expelled – means “glory.”

This is working out well for the RepubliKKK bullies in the Tennessee legislature. They and their racism are becoming known far and wide. I especially appreciate the racist KKKsplaining the one condescending racist asshole engaged in that was shared far and wide. The people of Tennessee need to understand that once a party reaches supermajority status they are no longer living in a democracy.

…and if they hadn’t done their racist tantrum, there wouldn’t be a national spotlight on the TN House Speaker’s not actually living in his district (a requirement in Tennesseee). But wait, it gets better! The dude was taking the long haul per diem expense rather than the short one (for those residing within 50 miles of Nashville). That’s $19k in untaxable per diem per year rather than $5k.

  1. In Tennessee, lawmakers who live within 50 miles of the capitol get about $79 in per diem expenses. Those outside of 50 miles get a much larger amount, $313. It’s pegged to the cost of a hotel in Nashville.

Editorial from Justin Pearson. Reads a bit like a stump speech, but it’s pretty good. He’s ready for prime time:

The Tennessee house may have succeeded in shortening Pearson’s longer term tenure in the state legislature.

Seems like a good fit for TN-9th district to the US house… And he got a lot of free publicity for doing the decent thing… standing up against Republicans on behalf of murdered kids.
