In a relatively fresh line of attack, former Vice President Joe Biden spent many of his (heavily interrupted) minutes painting President Donald Trump as one of the elite he claims to so detest.
Trump is a petulant, dangerous authoritarian. Period.
Apparently the consensus is that most everyone saw right through Trumpās performance and hated him for it. I was worried for a while that some undecided voters might see his manic ranting as a sign of strength, but that didnāt happen. Itās possible Trump might have even lost a few of his supporters tonight, who knows.
Either way, Biden did what he had to. He stayed sane throughout the entire shit show, which is more than most people could have done. I think most people saw it that way too.
My favorite line of the night was when Biden said:
Oh, fercrissakes, would you just shut the hell up, you fucking asshat? You should be ashamed of yourself, an adult displaying such juvenile and immature behavior at a Presidential Debate. Get out of here. Go to your room and let the adults talk.
Itās possible Iām just remembering it that way.
I sense that more citizens are tired of feckless, loud and vulgar alpha-male bullshitters at this point and Trump will wind up even further behind in the polls this week than he has ever been but what do I know.
Biden should refuse to debate further unless the Mike of the person whoās not responding to a question is turned off. Better yet, do it via Zoom and give the moderator the power button to mute and unmute.

I think Clinton had one of the solid takes on Trump: He hasnāt changed in the past 4 years. Viewers will see the exact same buffoon trying to bully his way through. But itās been 4 years, and a lot of people are tired of the drama and want to see the results. And he doesnāt have any to run on.
Hereās the thing on this. Being elite only matters if you are a Democrat. If there is a party of āelitesā itās the GOP, but because they have screamed about Democratic elitism for 40+ years, no one talks about this.
Itās the cultural wars, you damn hippie! Thatās what elite means to them. They do not use the same definitions as you do. Republicans have the right to rule; thatās not elitism, thatās just good common sense. Just ask any one of them.
Regarding the next debates, thereās been talk of cutting off the mic of the person who isnāt answering. While this would help, it wouldnāt solve the main problem. Cutting off Trumpās mic wouldnāt stop him from yelling at Biden on the stage to break his train of thought. What we really need is to put a soundproof glass box around Trumpās podium so that everyone can see him but no one, including Biden, can hear him except when itās his turn.
