If a letter or package is properly addressed to who it should be delivered to …along with who is sending it and that it carries adequate postage then the post office should do it’s job and deliver the mail. It should never be the job of the post office to decide who does and who does not get a ballot mailed to them. They deliver mail. They are not immigration experts.

SMH. The newsreader on my radio news this morning calmly observed: “It should be noted that Lake Ontario is jointly owned by Canada and the United States with the border running down the middle of the lake.”
I would also note the same applies to Lake Superior, Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Stupid, pointless debate for the day: We know that no one (and therefore anyone) has rights to name or rename an international body of water, like, say, the Gulf of Mexico. (a) What’s the rule about an inland lake? (b) Why would anyone care? and (c) What is Trump trying to distract from today?

For context, I want to elaborate on his role in Ontario politics and the trade war, because it’s not obvious.
First of all, Doug Ford is not his brother Rob Ford, who was a degenerate, alcoholic, drug addicted public spectacle while he was Mayor of Toronto. Tragically, he passed away at 46, eighteen months after being diagnosed with a rare, nasty form of cancer. The only reason to mention him, may he RIP, is to point out who Doug Ford is not.
Doug Ford is a low-grade Trumpist wannabe who many of us in Ontario would love to get rid of, but fail for lack of a viable opposition alternative. He is conventionally corrupt, handing out financial favours to cronies and getting found out later. He is also power mad, and delights in muscling his policy preferences on the city of Toronto. HOWEVER, and this is not usual, he was rational and professional and a team player in his handling of the COVID response in Ontario, and for all his bombast, he has been rational and professional and (mostly?) a team player in his handling of the trade war.
Hard to tell whether Carney views him as helpful in the role of ‘bad cop’, or a nuisance at times, but the way I see it, it doesn’t make a difference to the outcome if he triggers DJT into reacting and retaliating in random ways, or DJT reacts and retaliates in random ways all on his own because he’s triggered by something else.
@garrybee no doubt has his own profound thoughts on the matter

Just google for helpful info about. the U.S. Postal Service (previously, the U.S. Post Office). The constitution is pretty vague: “The Congress shall have the power to…Establish Post Offices and Post roads” (see Article I, Section 8, Clause 7). Controversy has surrounded the interpretation of this enumerated power of Congress since the earliest days of the republic. In 1970, Congress ceded much of its authority to the Board of Governors, who elect the Postmaster General. From my brief, untutored, and unsystematic study this morning, I come away with a sense of foreboding. God only knows what mischief the Roberts court is planning, what with their “original intent” games and aversion to the federal government’s authority, except when a Republican president gets to exercise it. I fear they are planning to lay the groundwork for the privatization of the U.S.P.S.
Btw, the Northeast (and possibly Southeastern states), esp. in the countryside, is full of roads with names like “Old Post Road.” Usually a short road that was functionally replaced when the post road, which has its own name or route #, was straightened to accommodate automobiles and trucks. Old post roads are outnumbered only by roads name after mills first built in the colonial era or early republic. By gum, life was a lot harder back in the day.
