Post-election the GOP will sue, Barrett will join the four regressives, and they will void all ballots received after November 3. A GOP win-win, because Roberts will continue to look neutral and moderate.

Blatently partisan ruling by Gorsuch, Barf, Alito, and the guy who never talks. But that was only 4. Roberts knows how ugly it would have looked to have stepped in, and invalidated ballots for the Democrats at the behast of the republicans.

I doubt the election will be close enough that the US Supreme Court will have any say, but…

Roberts clearly knows that if they step in, and Biden wins (as it currently appears he will) with a 12-14% landslide, with 52-53 senate seats, that they had better be looking for four (4) more matching chairs to set up on their dias for oral arguments, and then Roberts can decide to write dissents or join the seven liberals…

Handmaid Barrett is not yet Justice Barrett. Sad for Bunker Boy.

And we can’t find 3 or 4 R Senators who would join Ds or abstain to make sure that just one gawd damn thing in the last 5 yrs didn’t become completely tainted? What is wrong with that for a campaign ad? DNC?

Let’s see … what would be the result with Barrett on the Court?

Hmmmn. Such a puzzling question.

The conservative justices have been reluctant to allow court-ordered changes to voting rules close to an election.

So why would they vote to overrule what the State wants to do?

The “conservative justices” are full of shit, and it shows.

Depends what Mr. Covid Barrett thinks about it.

They’re gonna need a longer bench.

I wonder how it is going with the unwholesome foursome and Roberts when this happens? Is it bitter, or wink-wink? If it isn’t wink-wink, not only do the four resent him, he must resent like hell some of their recent disastrous decisions, and he has to throw in with the Ls as a desperation measure more and more.

And I know, I know, he is no great example and has plenty to answer for.

He may be the only one who cares about holding onto actual power. If Trump wins, and because of a compliant supreme court helping them, they become a rubber stamp.

This would never have happened if the handmaid had been seated.

Biden better go for the full stimulus needed (6 seats to 15 on the SC) and not another Obama/Biden too small stimulus package. We need to cement the court for the next 50 years at least. And the Cons pushing this hypocrisy is just what is needed to validate much-needed court reform.

The doctrine applies to Federal Judges interfering in state election administration. This is a decision from the State, and so no federalism interests come into play. It is just 110% political hackery, not law, going on…

Put another way, if a Federal Court says “oh, gotta do x,y, z” a few days before the election, well that does present some issues. But this is just partisan, juridical interference, unmoored from any legal principles.

So they’re trying to look less hack-ish ahead of getting ACB approved?

I am all for adding justices.

Not only did Chump befoul every single thing, he has clogged the courts and SCOTUS with so much shit…I can’t imagine any near-future administrations that would be wasting everyone’s time with shielding whether the president is profiting, scamming, intimidating, looting, blackmailing, treasoning, laundering, philandering, and raping…and get on to adjudicating whether he did.

That wouldn’t have been my first choice of qualifiers with respect to “conservative justices” and “reluctant.”

Congress has the authority to set uniform standards for mail ballots in federal elections. After Dems win they should do this. We can’t keep going through this state-by-state shit every time, especially if the Handmaiden is on the court.
