SCOTUS Helps Louisiana Republicans Obliterate Black, Dem District Ahead of Midterms

Originally published at: SCOTUS Helps Louisiana Republicans Obliterate Black, Dem District Ahead of Midterms

The Supreme Court is helping Louisiana Republicans in their attempt to redistrict at breakneck speed, the better to obliterate one if not both of the state’s majority Black, Democratic congressional districts.  On Monday, the Court certified the case early rather than waiting the customary 32-day period. The case has been immediately remanded to the district…

The presence of a single non-white person (excepting the handful of self-hating tokens) in the halls of Congress is an existential crisis for these bigoted scumbags. Next up: the authors of the 19th amendment clearly intended it to bar women from voting for or holding public office.

An Appeal to Heaven, perhaps.

How are all these States going to pay for these additional elections and redistricting efforts?

Raise taxes?

Cut funding for Public Schools?

Never mind…

Well, they’ll have to be creative, and perhaps look to the past.

Perhaps a small fee to fund the God-given right to cast a vote? As a measure of freedom, of course. What righteous American could be against that?

So if Tenn has 9 Republicans and zero, none, zippity zilch Democrats representing the people in the State in Congress, it seems like they have denied representation to all of those registered Democrats, and to be sure the Libertarians and Greens and what not other parties too.

Seems kinda wrong and contrary to the original arguments in the 1770’s etc.

No taxation without Representation, right y’all?

Between the Democrats and Everyone else there are twice as many registered voters as Republicans, yet only Republicans will be representing the people of the state?

Seems wrong any way you look at it. Maybe those “independents” ought to start talking to the Democrats.

They’re so sure they’re right - thanks, White Jesus - that real life is a conspiracy. No wonder these inheritance monkeys are so willing to believe in any enemy, and otherwise invent from whole cloth.

Forget gerrymandering — Project Freedom is underway in the Straight of Hormuz! Huzzah! This is definitely not part of the war with Iran, which has terminated, and which was never a war in the first place. That was an excursion, not a war, and this is just a project — a project, not a war. A project — it’s right there in the name. Would we call it a a project if it was a war? Like, duh.

Freedom is at hand in just two weeks! Huzzah!

The real-party-in-interest’s motion to recall the mandate highlights the tell in Alito’s defense of the order to issue the judgment immediately. He asserted in his “concurrence” that the real party in interest had not indicated their intention to ask for rehearing. But they have 32 days, apparently, in which to do so. The order cut that time off without the real party in interest having expressed in some reliable way that they were NOT going to ask for rehearing. No careful judge who hears something more important than traffic tickets would consciously do that, ever. That the Court did it anyway, and even more so that Alito is willing to acknowledge it in public and prentend it’s justifiable, reveals a glimpse of of the wizards behind the curtain – including the three who are content to hide behind the overt radicals.

More than 42,000 absentee ballots were sent in by voters before Louisiana’s Republican Gov. Jeff Landry suspended already-active congressional primary election.

Republicans have no ethics, no moral values.

It’s a cult. It just wants your money.

Lower court judges need to file a class action suit against Alito for being so dang idiotic, demanding damages for emotional distress and overtime resulting from his wholesale destruction of the legal system.

So, let me see if understand the conservatives on the Supreme Court: It’s racism when you draw congressional maps that ensure minority representation in our government, but it’s NOT racism when you draw congressional maps to ensure that minorities will NOT be represented in our government. As long as you call it politics and not racism, you can be as racist as you want.

Got it. Nothing to see here — please move along.

So, if the effect is racist, and you know that’s the effect, how on earth is that not racist intent? “I know I wasn’t allowed to disenfranchise them before because they were blacks, but I’m telling you it’s because they’re black democrats, not because they’re black people! democrats aren’t people’

I’m not sure why so few people know this but Gerrymandering only works in fairly close elections. If the Dems have a blowout year this fall then Republicans will end up losing far more seats in Gerrymandered states than they’ll lose in states they didn’t Gerrymander. These moves have a very good chance of backfiring spectacularly on them.
